  1. Lesson learned: Since I knew positively the unit had been in DMA mode before, I didn't look there. You were right. The unit had been changed to PIO mode somehow. Removing the controller and adding it back again (after reboot) fixed the DMA problem. Not sure why you think my settings are so strange though.
  2. My Lite-On burner has suddenly started burning DVDs at 1.1X, though I have chosed 6X. It used to burn them at 6X. I use TYG02 only. These TYG02 work at 6X in another machine so I am not thinking it's a media problem. The log below is another attempt, though I pushed the "TEST MODE" button, because I didn't want to burn any more real dvds. Is this the end of life for a great burner? I 16:00:21 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 16:00:21 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 16:00:21 Total Physical Memory: 1,044,584 KB - Available: 505,484 KB I 16:00:21 Initialising SPTI... I 16:00:21 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 16:00:21 Found 1 DVD
  3. Well, downloaded 2.4.1.0 from site and it works! Thanks However, my old version was 2.4.1.0 and this new version is reported as 2.4.1.0 also. Thanks again for the quick reply
  4. Received an mdf and mds file. When trying to load the .mds file into the write dialog screen, I get an error which says "cannot locate C:\isoXXf where XX are two blocks symbols. I suppose this means characters which I can't display. When I loaded the same .mds file into DVDdecrypter, it found the .mdf file and successfully burned it (Thankfully). Tried loading just the .mdf file into ImgBurn, but it tells me that I should have selected the .mds and tries to load the .mds with same bad result. There are no entries in the log screen other than the initial entries that are there when opening ImgBurn each time. Is there something I can do, so I don't have to find my DVDdecrypter from old archives again? side note: On a lark, I looked at the .mds file with a text editor, but could not figure out how to manually edit it to satisfy ImgBurn.
  5. According to ImgBurn display window: LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1H LL06 (ATA) At Lite-On USA site, LL06 is the latest firmware. On the international site, there is something called LL0C, but I don't know if that's really one I should use.
  6. Occassionally (perhaps 1 in 30), I get a bad burn at some random percentage of completion. A typical error looks like this: E 17:08:49 Failed to Write Sectors 983552 - 983583 - Write Error When this happens, I'm offered the choice of retry or cancel, and I click the cancel button; the bad disk is ejected, but Imgburn won't return access to my drive. (Retry just returns command sequence error and same choices again). What's worse, is that no amount (with my limited knowledge) of closing the program, including task manager will free the drive. Even if I sucessfully get the program closed with task manager, the drive is still being accessed (by Imgburn I think), and cannot be used. When this happens, it normally takes a full power off to get going again...even restart in Windows doesn't work. Any suggestions on how to regain control of drive and stop the program gracefully? I do use quality TY discs, so regardless of what's happening I wonder if my dvd drive is going South.
