  1. Mmalves...just got home and did what you suggested. Uninstalled all 3 Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controllers. Did a reboot and all is well. Thanks again...it's great to have access to such a knowledgeable and friendly site.
  2. Thanks mmalves...have also gone down this path before and well do as suggested. Strange thing is, I did check my DMA status before copying my burn log and all "looked" the way it should.
  3. Good Morning all...Recently( within the last week) my burning time with ImgBurn has doubled, and my verification time has quadrupled. Had this same problem last year, that time UK Lightning suggested I install process explorer>Find>type in cdrom>search. Kill any other processes that are running. That turned out to be the answer...this time, can find no other applications running. I am thinking my optical could be on it's last legs(1500+burns ). Running WindowsXP DMA mode is OK Firmware updated Media:Tayo Yuden Thanks in advance for any input. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Thursday, 12 March 2009, 00:18:07 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 23:19:03 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! 4. Eureka....thanks to all for your suggestions and links. Killed the :DMASched...3704 Handle \Device\CdRom1 and ImgBurn went right through the process without the nag. Apparently the conflict was coming from Sonic Express which is a DVD Cover/Label printer. You guys and gals rock!
  5. Blutach...followed your recommendation. Nothing came up at all. Also tried to launch ImgBurn from : C:\Program Files\ImgBurn....but got the same Nag. Continued and burned successful. Blutach...tried your suggestion one more time and this is what popped up.... DMASched...3704 Handle \Device\CdRom1 Do I really want to kill this thread??? Anyone think a system restore could solve this? As long as this isn't a harbinger of something worse... I can deal with a two second interruption in my burning process.

  9. Locoeng I am opening from a Desk Top Short Cut which is what I've been doing since the first version of Image Burn came out. If it helps at all -----below is a log from my last burn: ; ; ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 - Log ; Monday, 07 April 2008, 20:37:52 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 20:12:38 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! 10. Blutach/Mmalves...Thanks so much for your replies. Downloaded and ran the prog, but cannot for the life of me see any indication of any other driver running in the background! As I said...once I hit the Continue tab the burn resumes uninterrupted. Just can't figure out what and why now. Only additional software I've installed recently was for a Logitech Webcam. Thanks again
  11. Good Evening... The last few days have been getting the Lock Volume failed when using the latest version of ImageBurn. When I click on continue ...it proceeds to to a flawless burn. Did a searech and read the FAQ below. www.sysinternals.com apparently no longer a functioning website. Can't find any other program using the drive....as I said --- I am happy with the outcome...just wondering what's going on. Thanks in advance Problem: You get an error saying 'Unable to lock volume for exclusive access' A.K.A. 'DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed!' If the 'Reason' given is 'Access is denied' (or words to that effect) Another program is currently using the drive. You need to find out what it is and shut it down! The only way I know of finding out what else has a 'handle' open to the drive is by using Process Explorer from www.sysinternals.com
  12. Thanks again UK Lightning!. Got 3 more hours of work and a blizzard to contend with before I can follow your advice. Will post results. Eureka.....Followed your advice, deleted and rebooted. Burned and verified in 16+ minutes. Thanks for your patience and efforts.

  14. Lightning UK!. Thanks so much for your response..and sorry for the insipid questions , but here goes: The last three items in Bold are the ones I need to delete(uninstall)..not the entire tier. And, if I am unable to resolve the issue, is this a harbinger of more evil things to come. Worst case scenario, I can live with longer burning times. The DVD's that I have backed up,albeit taking longer, have all been flawless burns. 15. Cornholio7 and all, thanks for your time and patience. Just to make sure...my Device Manager reads: IDEA ATA/ATAPI Controllers Primary IDE Channel Primary IDE Channel Primary IDE Channel Secondary IDE Channel Secondary IDE Channel Secondary IDE Channel Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller The last entry Standard Dual........is the one I wish to uninstall and reboot? Thanks again
