  1. I've got no experience with external drives, and without logs it's hard to be sure if something else has occurred during the burn. Having said that, if you've got the room on the internal hard drive, I'd be more inclined to create the ISO on it, simply to decrease the risk of data flow problems when burning the disc. Someone else here with experience with external drives/burners might be able to give a better answer though.
  2. Do you have your log file from the burn to post? Are you testing the playback on a standalone player? If so, how does it play on your PC (internal / external drive)?
  3. Only this one: Most Definately Not as expensive as burning multiple Intenso coasters and then buying Verbatims PS. Welcome to the forums, and understood your English fine
  4. The Mrs would have a fit if she saw that piano mod.
  5. OK, Everyone, pack up your stuff, we're moving ...
  6. Sounds like your original ISO file (presumably created by another program) was made without the VIDEO_TS directory. ImgBurn would therefore have burnt the ISO without the directory - it doesn't change the source when using ISO Write mode. As suggested by polopony, a log file, build mode, and the guides are our friends.
  7. Is this some sort of mini-CD / Business Card CD?
  8. I'm sure CMC Magnetic corp. used to be the company that kept all those third world countries economies afloat by making widgets. Up until the technology boom and the bottom fell out of the widget market.

    Formatting DVD+RW

So they're outsourcing their outsourcing. That must be saving them bucket loads. Next thing you know Indian call centres will be outsourced to ..... And I'm sure we used to have to format our 8 inch floppies before we used them.

Yes, here I am spending my holidays trolling the forums just waiting for THE post. When I could be downloading p0rn.
  11. I must say, I've missed the enlightening conversations of IBF chat these last months.

    Overclocking

I spoke too soon. When I went to do some stress testing (using Prime95) I came unstuck as it was producing incorrect results - still no crashes or anything, but with video compression I don't want it making incorrect calculations. Played around with uping voltage slightly and dropping overclock etc and ended up with: CPU Speed: CPU Clock 2299.22 MHz CPU Multiplier 10.0x CPU FSB 229.92 MHz (original: 200 MHz, overclock: 15%) Memory Bus 209.02 MHz Chipset Properties: Motherboard Chipset nVIDIA nForce3 250, AMD Hammer Memory Timings 3-4-4-9 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) Command Rate (CR) 2T SPD Memory Modules: DIMM1: Infineon AED660UD00-500B98X 512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (3.0-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz) (2.5-3-3-7 @ 166 MHz) (2.0-2-2-6 @ 133 MHz) This was with 1.55V CPU Core and resulted in a stable CPU temperature under stress conditions (including ambient mercury being high today - no A/C). Apart from some very fine tweaking, any higher is going to need an improved cooling installation. As before, I'd let the system choose the memory timings and command rate. Will try setting these manually to get back to CR 1T.

    Overclocking

Well Chewy, you got me thinking that I could do better, so after a little research courtesy of our friend Google, I've now gone from 12% overclock to 21% , although memory left around normal by changing the ratio. No increase in voltages for now as I only have stock standard heatsink/fan along with a fairly ordinary case fan. Appears stable at present - unlike when I tried 25%. Seen some comments regarding keeping the HT multiplier & frequency at or under normal, but need to do more reading on what & why. --------[ EVEREST Home Edition ? 2003-2005 Lavalys, Inc. ]------------------------------------------------------------ Version EVEREST v2.20.405 Report Type Report Wizard Computer ZARDOZ (Dad's PC) Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 (WinXP Retail) Date 2006-01-23 Time 13:23 --------[ Overclock ]--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CPU Properties: CPU Type AMD Athlon 64 3400+ CPU Alias Newcastle S754 CPU Stepping DH-CG CPUID CPU Name AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+ CPUID Revision 00000FC0h CPU Speed: CPU Clock 2420.04 MHz CPU Multiplier 10.0x CPU FSB 242.00 MHz (original: 200 MHz, overclock: 21%) Memory Bus 201.67 MHz CPU Cache: L1 Code Cache 64 KB (Parity) L1 Data Cache 64 KB (ECC) L2 Cache 512 KB (On-Die, ECC, Full-Speed) Motherboard Properties: Motherboard ID 10/19/2005-nForce-6A61CG0HC-00 Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-K8NS (5 PCI, 1 AGP, 3 DDR DIMM, Audio, LAN) Chipset Properties: Motherboard Chipset nVIDIA nForce3 250, AMD Hammer Memory Timings 2.5-3-3-8 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) Command Rate (CR) 2T SPD Memory Modules: DIMM1: Infineon AED660UD00-500B98X 512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (3.0-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz) (2.5-3-3-7 @ 166 MHz) (2.0-2-2-6 @ 133 MHz) BIOS Properties: System BIOS Date 10/19/05 Video BIOS Date 04/08/06 Award BIOS Type Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG Award BIOS Message GA-K8NS F18 DMI BIOS Version F9 Graphics Processor Properties: Video Adapter ATI Radeon 9200 SE (RV280) GPU Code Name RV280 (AGP 8x 1002 / 5964, Rev 01) GPU Clock 200 MHz (original: 200 MHz) Memory Clock 180 MHz (original: 180 MHz)
  14. It's a sad fact that most apps I use don't reappear in the system tray if explorer crashes, although explorer generally always automatically restarts itself ok.
  15. Damn chewy - 37% overclock. I can't get my Athlon 64 3000+ over about 12-13% before it freezes. Then I'm only using the general slider in EasyTune - not actually manually tweaking individual settings. Usually I don't bother overclocking it at all (although funnily enough with no overclocking selected it actually runs 4% over specs once rebooted). --------[ EVEREST Home Edition ? 2003-2005 Lavalys, Inc. ]------------------------------------------------------------ Version EVEREST v2.20.405 Report Type Report Wizard Computer ZARDOZ (Dad's PC) Operating System Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 (WinXP Retail) Date 2006-01-21 Time 21:22 --------[ Overclock ]--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CPU Properties: CPU Type AMD Athlon 64 3200+ CPU Alias Newcastle S754 CPU Stepping DH-CG CPUID CPU Name AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+ CPUID Revision 00000FC0h CPU Speed: CPU Clock 2239.74 MHz CPU Multiplier 10.0x CPU FSB 223.97 MHz (original: 200 MHz, overclock: 12%) Memory Bus 223.97 MHz CPU Cache: L1 Code Cache 64 KB (Parity) L1 Data Cache 64 KB (ECC) L2 Cache 512 KB (On-Die, ECC, Full-Speed) Motherboard Properties: Motherboard ID 08/12/2005-nForce-6A61CG0HC-00 Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-K8NS (5 PCI, 1 AGP, 3 DDR DIMM, Audio, LAN) Chipset Properties: Motherboard Chipset nVIDIA nForce3 250, AMD Hammer Memory Timings 3-3-3-8 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) Command Rate (CR) 1T SPD Memory Modules: DIMM1: Infineon AED660UD00-500B98X 512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (3.0-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz) (2.5-3-3-7 @ 166 MHz) (2.0-2-2-6 @ 133 MHz) BIOS Properties: System BIOS Date 08/12/05 Video BIOS Date 04/08/06 Award BIOS Type Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG Award BIOS Message GA-K8NS F16 DMI BIOS Version F9 Graphics Processor Properties: Video Adapter ATI Radeon 9200 SE (RV280) GPU Code Name RV280 (AGP 8x 1002 / 5964, Rev 01) GPU Clock 200 MHz (original: 200 MHz) Memory Clock 180 MHz (original: 180 MHz)

    Where are they now ?

He'll probably get some help on that front (or should I say rear) now
  17. Had an indian place in the CBD here - for about 2-3 weeks. Then it closed down - guess they didn't have much in the way of customers, liquidity or realistic business plan.
  18. I'd always assumed each layer was burnt in a separate pass, from admittedly skimming threads on the matter, and the fact that people who had their burns error at the layer break were approx 50% through. Wouldn't even like to hazzard a guess on direction though.
  19. Seems some nice gentlement have volunteered to come and help you DB.
  20. While I have no sympathy for those involved in any type of child abuse, and have some ideas on fitting punishment, it is worrying the possible precedent this sort of subpoena sets. Additionally the fact that AOL, Yahoo and Microsoft just bent over as instructed without the media saying boo. If Google hadn't fought the issue, would the public know about what was happening ? Also is the data being requested purely US based queries, or global - in which case is this a shortcut for other countries to gather information on their residents via the US Gov't, who would of course pass on details in the interests of being the great protector of our freedom from terrorism and such. Google refuses US data request http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200601/s1552224.htm
  21. Would the store / supplier have records of the purchase anyway ? Can't imagine you purchased them from the local K-Mart. I couldn't locate receipt for my monitor recently when it needed warranty repair, so rang up the store, told them the date I bought it on and the other item purchased at the same time (graphics card) and they went through their receipts for the day and gave me a reprint.
  22. Is it art or is it science ?
  23. If ever there was a topic title to set fear in one's heart. Thought Corny had gone all Jmet on us :&
  24. Remember this guy from the 70's ? Well this is how he looks these days: and yep...that's jail attire. Leif Garrett's latest drugs mess And for those who like posts to finish with a nice babe picture: Leif with Nicollette Sheridan
