  1. OK, thanks. I have updated my email address.
  2. Glad I didn't buy DVDInfoPro before I found BurnPlot. Interesting result. Thanks for developing it.
  3. By "mini-DVD" I am referring to camcorder-sized DVDs. I have a way to convert these to regular-sized DVDs using another program plus IMGBURN, but IMGBURN doesn't appear to have the capability to extract video files (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders) from a mini-DVD to hard disk. It does have the ability to burn these files, but not extract them. Am I right or am I missing something?
  4. Well, looks like my friend's brother decided to delete the ISO from my friend's computer as part of "housekeeping." But I remain fairly confident that the source file was scrambled or corrupted during the copying phase. I may try another coppy operation to see if it happens again, but I won't hold my breath, even though I have seen this anomaly before.
  5. Thanks for all those tips; I will download all of them (I already have 7-zip). And that's correct about anydvd and dvd43, but the copy, burn, and verify operations were all done with dvd43 present or not present, but never with anydvd present. That's on my machine. The first log I posted shows good results on my machine; the problem's on my friend's computer which doesn't have anydvd. And I will report back on my findings after I run the ISO in a virtual drive.
  6. Update ImgBurn. Update the burner's firmware. Burn at 16x if you want the fastest reliable speed, but you may get a better burn if you use 8x or 12x. Further in that log, isn't there the operation when you read the disc to the HDD? It might also be worth testing that computer's memory with memtest+ or similar. Yep, I will update my friend's firmware for his drive. It was recently installed. And yes, that operation to copy to hard disk was done, but there was no log found. Dunno why. There was also supposed to be a verify operation that I did to fully verify the DVD's content with that on the hard disk, which passed. That also was not found in the log.
  7. I ran the verification test on the bad disc (the one with the bad burn) against the ISO file on my friend's computer. The ISO file was copied from the original disc to the hard drive earlier. The verification test PASSED... suggesting a bad copy operation rather than a bad burn operation. Here's the log file from my friend's computer at his house. The first session was an attempt to make a second DVD copy which failed. The log I'm talking about is the last session recorded in the log copied below, showing successful copy to DVD with aborted verify, but showing bad video when the DVD was played: Funny thing is, the verification test I did today didn't seem to get logged; there's no record of it. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 - Log ; Thursday, 17 December 2009, 01:17:38 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 01:07:05 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! 8. There were no read errors on my friend's computer (or mine). The verification process was included in the burn process on my friend's computer, and it was verifying OK. But I aborted the verification about 1/3 to 1/2 way into the disc. The DVD was then played back and the problem was found as I reported above, but it was found very early in the DVD playback, in the area of disc that passed the verification. (In fact, it seemed that most of the DVD content had bad scrambled video coming out of it.) That would suggest a bad copy to hard disk rather than a bad burn from hard disk, yes? Thanks for the heads up on the new firmware version. The Samsung drive has just been upgraded now. I attempted a verification process of the (bad) disc content against the known good copy on my computer (not the copy on my friend's computer from which this bad DVD was burned) to see what happens. 9. Here's the log from my computer last night... It's the one resulting in good burn and good playback. The original disc the movie was copied from (according to IMGBURN's "current profile") is a DVD-ROM disc. ; //****************************************\\ ; ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 - Log ; Thursday, 17 December 2009, 11:48:03 ; \\****************************************// ; ; I 11:47:50 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! 10. Thanks for the (fast!) reply. I agree, but could it have been a bad copy instead of a bad burn? It may be that there's no definite answer to this, but was there a past history of bad copy operation or bad burn operation? As for the logs, I'll have to get it from my friend's computer. Would those logs still be there, even if IMGBURN is used again in the meantime? Thanks.
  11. Using an earlier version of IMGBURN (next down from 2.5.0.0) on my friend's computer, I copied a movie to hard disk and burned it onto a DVD and played the DVD. All program indications are that there were no problems in the copy or burn results. But on DVD playback on my friend's DVD player, there were major visual problems. The pix shown is an example of what I'm seeing. What would be the cause of this? I copied and burned the same movie the second time on my own computer using IMGBURN 2.5.0.0, and the second DVD played perfectly and flawlessly well. I don't believe the improvement is due to the version used. Any insights to this problem or the cause will be appreciated...
  12. Yes, loads - and we get new ones every single day. If I didn't think it was important I wouldn't make the program do it by default. OK--thank you.
  13. I have a question about the Verify function in IMGBURN 2.5.0.0. Are there actual cases when the verification found a problem when checking out the disc contents after a burn? If there are any disc integrity problems on a particular disc, it's caught during the write process, not during a verification process. And I'm talking about DVDs...
  14. Thanks for the info. I am not calling this volume label feature a bug. The bug is this: the destination is changed to its default instead of the specified destination when it's specified before DVD drive initialization completes. This shouldn't happen. In the settings, the default destination is set to "generated automatically". If this is set to "none", this bug would not show itself. I'm calling this a bug from a customer point of view, not the developer's. (No such problem occurs when in the Write mode.) But I agree that operational-wise, it's almost not a bug since the copy operation completes with no problem (albeit not in an expected manner); but it's not exactly a cosmetic bug, either, because it affects expected operation defined by the customer.
