  1. Can think of one time where I used DVD-R DL for a movie. When trying to create a movie where The End Of The World came up. Burned it to DVD-R DL because the layer break was fixed.
  2. That's something else I wondered about. What the padding was used for. Because I seem to recall one of the things with DVD+R DL was you had to write data to the unused areas of the disc, e.g. burn all available space, for reflectivity reasons.
  3. Is DVD+R DL or DVD-R DL more compatible over the other versus whether a DVD player will play them? For instance, I've been a fan of the DVD- crowd because it appeared to be more compatible with players. In terms of the layer break, it seems to me the DVD+R DL is preferred over DVD-R DL because there is control over where the layer break can go. Especially for movie discs, this can come into play because a DVD-R DL would, in theory, put the layer break in a different area.
  4. Since there is not setting of a layer break by ImgBurn for DVD-R DL, it made me wonder. I've just had my first experience trying out DVD-R DL discs. So, how does the layer switching work on DVD-R DL? Is it physically set in the disc and ImgBurn/whatever just burns to X sector, encounters the layer break, and writes any additional data left over to Layer 1? Which would mean that the layer break would be "randomly" inserted into the video stream because you never know when you'll encounter it physically?
  5. For a while, the PS 2 was my only DVD player, too. That was one of the main selling points why I got one. I didn't have a DVD player, it played the old games as well as the new games, and still played CD's. (My Playstation 1 was my first CD player ever, believe it or not.) I was one of those who pre-ordered early and got mine when everyone was selling theirs on eBay. I should have probably done the same but decided I'd rather keep it and be able to say I have what everyone else wants.
  6. CHEEKY! Besides, I tend to avoid LG drives as LG has jokingly been referred to as Lucky Good for you if the drive works right. I had a few rebadged LG drives that were fine except for Playstation 2 DVD playback. Random skips that other drives didn't produce. Of course, I can't really blame the drive as the Playstation 2 is a really lousy DVD player when it comes to writable discs.
  7. Well, as it turns out, my drives DON'T support DVD-RW DL and DVD+RW DL discs! Well, the external drive may support them, but, it's not worth a look turning it on to check. Edit: decided to turn on the power to the external to check, but, I don't expect much as it is a drive that is older in terms of product number versus one that is internally installed. And, yep, there's no support.
  8. Especially on DVD-RW DL. I've only just seen my first examples of DVD-R DL discs earlier today on NewEgg.
  9. Do they make double layer rewritable discs, DVD+RW DL or DVD-RW DL? I've seen them supposedly supported in the capabilities list of my drives but I've not seen any samples yet to use. And, if they do make them, where in the US can I order some? Thanks!
  10. Oh. I checked the label on the cake stack, with the bar code, and it does say made in Singapore.
  11. Becuase these have printable labels, the only text is at the ring, where it just says it's Vertabim DVD+R DL and the speed.
  12. Okay, good. That means they are real Mitsubishi media, which appeared in the MCM strings before on Verbatims.
  13. You know, ever since I moved over to NEC drives, I've not broken a single drive! Can you believe it?! I even have 2 Sony ones, too, that have managed thus far not to break. Unlike the DRU-700a which stopped working a day after the warranty expired.
  14. Wow, my order has arrived already. Okay, here's the Manufacturer ID for them. Hope it's good and not one of those India batches mentioned earlier. MKM-001-00 Is that a good Manufacturer ID? I don't like seeing MKM instead of MCC. But, what could MKM stand for? If German, I'd say Kemical. Thanks!
  15. This looks like exactly what I'm looking for. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817130997 I've ordered NEC drives from NewEgg before and have been satisfied with my transactions with them in the past. I think I'll ordered 1 spindle to see what the manufacturer ID's area and if they're satisfactory, order more spindles. Thanks!
  16. Well, my e-mail did change a year ago. That may be why.
  17. Hey, all! I need an online store in the USA where I can buy Verbatim DVD+R DL's in bulk. Preferably, if they make them, discs with inkjet/thermal labels on them. The Verb's I've had waste a lot of space for writing titles with their logo on them instead. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
  18. Thanks to all who sent me something for my special day! Sorry my reply is so late.
  19. I didn't think about overburning because I've never done it before. Since it's only 11 seconds, as you say, it should work. How exactly would I overburn? What would I use to burn the image, which was created by Nero? Never mind. I figured out how to do it. Mounted the Nero image, read the image drive to a format ImgBurn can burn, and just said yes to the prompt about burning the image even though it was about 2 sectors larger.
  20. This may be a stupid question, but, do they make CD-R's of larger than 80 minutes/700 MB? I've a CD I want to create but the source files come out to an annoying 80 minutes and 11 seconds. I can't trim down the length of the files and I can't remove any more files from the source list. So, my only option seems to be to burn to a larger size CD-R, 90 minutes if they make one, etc. Thanks!
  21. God, I feel so stupid. When I said I uninstalled MediaPlayerConnectivity plug in... I didn't. I uninstalled some other one that was first in my list. I take medication that sometimes makes me do dumb things. Anyway, uninstalling that plug in was all it took.
  22. I tried most of that already. All I didn't try was to uninstalling QTA first and then reinstall it. I just tried reinstalling it. I'll give it a go.
  23. This only helped in that now the first frame of the MOV appears with the player controls after it downloads, but, then disappears and is replaced by a container. Well, I tried first disabling and then uninstalling, but, the MediaConnectivity container, i.e. double click on it and MediaConnectivity opens, still appears. This is on that first link I sent.
  24. Okay, I disabled MediaConnectivity and I still have the three containers, even after restarting Firefox, that appeared in the above trailers page for 28 Weeks Later.
  25. If it helps, here's something else I'm encountering on the 28 Weeks Later trailers. At http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_atomic/28weekslater/ Where it has Watch The Trailer Large, Medium, Small, IPod, and HD Trailer are all buttons but next to HD Trailer are three containers (That was the word I was looking for.) that then open MediaConnectivity.
