  1. It's not too fast for my other burner. I need it to burn at 8x.
  2. I can't tell if it's a faulty drive, or the discs I put in the SH-S222A are crappy, and the ones I put in my iHAP122 are fine. I've had nothing but problems with this drive. Here's the log and a picture of the error: I 14:33:53 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started! 3. Never mind. The drive is dead. It can't even read CDs.
  4. I have a slightly busted NEC ND-3550A drive, if anyone wants it. It's IDE based, I've had it for 5+ years, so I think it's passed its prime. It's having problems switching to L1 on dual layer discs and its caused 20+ coasters so far. So, it's of no use to me anymore. I'm pretty sure it still functions as a reader, or basic DVD/CD burner. If you want it, let me know.
  5. Thanks again, LIGHTNING UK!. So far, ImgBurn has not resorted to faulting out with 0.0x after I switched the cables to the Foxconn cables. Those ASUS cables had been under quite a lot of stress. It was attached to a C: drive before since I've been using the motherboard and after I replaced the C: drive with the SATA drive, it was used to control the drives. I guess it just died. Anyway, it's working perfectly; burning 2 discs simultaneously at 8x with no faults.
  6. Yeah, I noticed there's 6 red SATA ports, 1 orange and 1 white. Are those two the Marvell controlled ones? Anyway, I'll install them now.
  7. That's for SATA drivers. I updated the BIOS to 2002 when I first got the motherboard. I changed the cable from the ASUS cable to an IDE cable from an old XBOX 1. That gave me write errors, so I then changed it again to a Foxconn cable I had from an old Dell box. It seems to be working fine now on the Foxconn cable. I'll let you know if the error happens again now. EDIT: Wow. On the new cable, both drives are able to burn at 8X simultaneously now.
  8. I thought it could be the cable. I'll replace it right away. The IDE cable is from my motherboard box, which was made by ASUS. The SATA controller on the motherboard is an Intel controller. I'd assume the IDE is controlled by the same controller chip. Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Pro.
  9. Well, it's still doing it. I can't figure out how to stop it. It's coastering too many discs here! This time, I got an error in the log. http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/7739/24848616.png I 05:29:19 ImgBurn Version 2.5.0.0 started! EDIT: After shutting down the PC, I took out the drives to inspect them and I noticed they were REALLY hot! I'm talking hard drive temperatures. Maybe over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. It didn't feel too good to hold the drive in my hands for very long. The two drives were in the lower two bays. I moved them to the upper 2 bays. (long story, but it had to do with the old PCI IDE slot placement. I changed the drive's IDE controller to the motherboard, but never put them back in the top.) So, I'll try again, and post the results. EDIT2: I did the exact same job again. It was successful this time. But it could be luck of the draw. I'll report back if the 0.0x burn rate failure happens again. EDIT3: I don't know if this applies, but I went to burn another ISO and I got the Power Calibration Area Error while it was setting the L0 datazone. I hit retry, and it went through. 10. Yes. I updated it to 1.07 ages ago. The discs are fine. I have burned over 1,000+ discs in this drive. It's only of recent have I run across this issue. Those discs are Memorexs, but for some reason it comes up as RITEK signed discs. But, I'm pretty sure you already know that.
  11. I figured out the problem. I recently got the 7200 RPM 2TB Hitachi Deskstar drive and its read speed over 120MB/s. ImgBurn will try to burn over 8x and then freeze. I capped the write speed at 8x and it no longer gets stuck.
  12. No, it got to 10%, then went to 0.0x. I noticed it when I went to change out the discs, it was still burning. So, I ALT+TAB'd out of GTA IV, and noticed it was stuck at 10%. 22 minutes had elapsed since I started burning it. Once it gets stuck, it just sits there. Nothing I can do. I have to reboot to get the drive to open or even respond.
  13. This is the second time this has happened tonight. ImgBurn keeps going to 0.0x burn speed, and essentially coastering my discs. DVD+R DLs are very expensive, and I can't keep having it coaster my discs. What can I do to make sure this never happens again? Here's a screenshot: http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/8282/bufferfailure.png
  14. That doesn't look like my card. This is what my card looks like: http://cgi.ebay.com/IDE-PCI-SATA-Serial-AT...id=p3286.c0.m14 EDIT: I just tried again to have the BIOS boot from the HDD that was connected to the VIA card, and no beans. It keeps saying no hard drive detected. EDIT2: I just ordered this IDE controller: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16816132004 Hopefully it will be able to boot the IDE hard drive.
  15. There's no insignia on the card. It just says VIA on the controller chip. No manufacture. The PCB is green. It looks generic. Out of desperation, I hotwired one of the DVD burners to the motherboard's IDE line. I don't even use the VIA card anymore, since the motherboard has onboard SATA, but it'd be nice if I had 2 burners.
  16. I did identify it. I told you what it was, but you weren't paying attention. I want a solution, not a workaround.
  17. I already know it won't, because I tired. You could've asked. That's why I put the DVD drives on the VIA card, because it was either not have the motherboard reconize the DVD drives, or not have it reconize the HDD. Had to choose the obvious one. And if I ever need to boot from a CD/DVD, I have tons of Lite-On DG-16D2S 0800 drives to use for that.

  21. The motherboard won't reconize the DVD drives. I doubt it'll reconize my Windows drive. It's a VIA 6421.
  22. Oh wow. The IDE slot is being used for the HDD. So, I need the VIA card to support the drives. What can I do so it won't crash?
  23. I just upgraded from a 4 year old XP install full of Win rot, and a registry bigger than your fist to Windows 7 Ultimate Build 7600 RTM. Everything seems to be working fine, except ImgBurn. When I go to burn something, it says "Settting L0 Data Zone", and then BSOD about viaraid.sys. Is it the driver, or ImgBurn crashing? Or both? What do I have to do to fix it?
