ISF Newbie (1/5)

  1. When i wrote "i know 1 ISO is no reason to cry about free space, i'm thinking big here, as in ALOT more ISOs" i wasn't talking about the ISO Imgburn creates in the process, i meant the backed up ISOs. If i have 1 or 2 ISOs i do not need compression, but if i have ALOT, compression makes a significant difference in terms of space. But we're steering away from the main suggestion, which is: adding a direct CD/DVD copying feature from a CD/DVD reader to a CD/DVD burner, without the need of writing an image to HDD in the process.
  2. Back in the days, direct CD/DVD copying existed between 2 drives, along with buffer underruns and track I/O errors, CDRWin and CloneCD were kings among burning software... i guess with ImgBurn this could introduce more complications than features The purpose of archiving an ISO in compressed format is to have direct access to it without decompressing first, but that way i can't record it with ImgBurn. If i don't compress it, i can record it but i can't save space. Yes, i know 1 ISO is no reason to cry about free space, i'm thinking big here, as in ALOT more ISOs. If CD/DVD copying requires creating an image in the process, then don't bother adding this feature to ImgBurn.
  3. Your method rewrites the image to a supported format, but the purpose behind Direct CD/DVD copying would be not writing to HDD at all, no matter if we are copying from a real CD/DVD or a mounted image on a virtual letter. I originally requested support for ISZ image format to avoid exactly that, but if Direct CD/DVD copying is added to ImgBurn, it will not need to uncompress or support such file formats.
  4. I used to be schizophrenic, but now we're alright...

  5. The Direct CD/DVD copying would be a good solution for those requesting support for compressed image formats like i did (ISZ, DAA, UIF, CISO, etc) or other unsupported formats, because one could simply install a free virtual CD/DVD emulator that supports the requested image (alcohol 52%, Daemon Tools, etc), then use the "1-click copy" to burn from the mounted image to the burner. I know you suggested the "2-clicks copy" method, but that implies decompressing and writing about 4GB to HDD that is already in the HDD but in compressed format. I hope this point of view makes this suggestion a little more "desirable", as it (sort of) combines several requests into one solution
  6. This is what i call a good reply I know a donation is to congratulate and incentivate (is this word right?) the author, not to request or demand features, also this feature was already mentioned and discarded. But because the ISZ format is open to public, i think it would be a feature some would like to have in ImgBurn. Then again we are merely mortals in the hands of LUK But isn't donating a way to say "we want more?" Well, ISZ support in ImgBurn is what i want more
  7. . So...for $10.00 the Boss is supposed to do something he already said he doesn't want to do??? And, if he doesn't, you'll still be using the program without donating a couple bucks...now there is an incentive to do something if I ever saw one... Your mind works in mysterious ways... As i said, the program is free and it does (almost) everything i need it to do. But by your way of thinking, i should not donate? I should not incentive new features, even if the "boss" does not like them? That was the weirdest way ever of saying "i don't want your money". OK, understood.
  8. Since someone because someone else bumped the other topic from 2007, i created a new one. I didn't understand why wouldn't you support this format, it's great for archiving and can be burned directly. I hate using UltraISO to burn ISZ image files, and i don't like the ISZ -> ISO -> ImgBurn method. I use it, my friends use it, i believe many out there use it too. I use alcohol too, but only the 52% free version. I also backup all my PS2 games in isz format. Kids are always kids, scratched DVDs are mandatory in their hands. Now for the serious part: i have used ImgBurn for many years, mainly because it is free and does everything it is supposed to do. ISZ support would be a must for me and others; so, since your front page says "Help me improve ImgBurn" by donating with PayPal, i wouldn't mind donating 10 bucks to see ImgBurn improved with ISZ support.
