  1. Thank you. It was my Sonic DLA software that came with the thinkpad. I looked for a way to update the software, and couldn't find anything in the sonic frontend interface - besides my thinkvantage system update should encompass that if there were an update. Thankfully, it does allow disabling of DLA, which I did, and I tried loading the same disc with imgburn: no problem! Excellant software, excellant service. Better than any professional support service I've ever experienced =) . I hope you keep up the great work.
  2. So what can/should I do about the BSOD? Outside of loading that particular disc with Imgburn, I do not recall ever seeing that particular error, and all my drivers are up to date. Or are you saying you want the information for your sake? If so, how do I retrieve the log? Event viewer? It was several days ago.
  3. Well I ended up reinstalling windows =( since I was having a bunch of problems - to be honest - they probably started with the chipset driver that the ma-config utility mmalves suggested to me told me to install. Found out later that the driver doesn't seem to support my chipset (I wouldn't advise recommending that utility/website anymore - better to use the manufacturer's/reseller website or factory-installed update software for updates). One of the first things I did was install imgburn and try Encarta (without the Arc, Arcsoft, and GEAR filter drivers). It worked!! Then I tried an IBM product recovery disc - and I got BSOD. This had happened every time I had loaded that disc with ImgBurn before my windows reinstall, too, but I was hoping for better luck. Anyway, I tried booting into safe mode. The optical drive shows up now finally, so I opened imgburn and copied my IBM disc no problem! All is good now, at least as far as imgburn is concerned (now I have other problems to deal with - sheesh can't catch a break!) Thanks for your support! BTW, the filter drivers still show up in safe mode.
  4. Yes, I press F8 to boot into safe mode. And there's no optical drives. I even tried an external USB optical drive - doesn't show up. Al other USB devices work fine. I had the drives were supposed to be accessible in safe mode - I guess I was right. I'm looking into getting help with this problem; will try to let you know if I find anything. I will also try my Ubuntu Live CD, but I can't remember ever being able to install anything onto the OS that is running only off the CD. You're saying each program will just install into memory? Do you know if WINE comes with the OS or do I have to download/install it too (if you don't know I can look myself... just running some other things atm keeping me from trying this right now). I haven't explored the CD too much - I mainly use it just for the partition editor.
  5. I have not yet determined that it won't work in safe mode, because I can't figure out how to get safe mode to see my optical drive. Do you know how to do this? I have a live cd of Ubuntu 8.04.1, but how would I install wine and imgburn on it? I don't understand. Would I have to create such I live cd with these programs installed from an hdd installation that has them?
  6. Is removing them just temporary/easy to undo? How do I boot into safe mode without all but my hdd becoming invisible to windows (I tried default/"minimal" safeboot from msconfig, and I tried safe mode with networking from boot interrupt)? If I can remember correctly, I also tried safeboot + disabling all system services except microsoft ones, but what that gave me was no different from a normal session in any apparent way (same errors; same filter drivers in the list).
  7. I'm guessing you're talking about removing them from the filter driver load order in imgburn, right? And does removing them only affect imgburn? I don't want to remove them from my computer and make my other media editing programs not work.

  9. The website listed 2 available drivers for my chipset. I installed 1 and the other is for Rapid Drive. I'm assuming I don't need that (I don't even have more than 1 hdd installed and don't want to RAID anything)... is that right? Family Tree: I 20:48:08 ImgBurn Version 2.5.6.0 started! 10. I did this and when I load the disc, a bunch of stuff shows up in the little text area on the right side of the window for a split second and then disappears. At the same time, the status bar on the bottom flashes a bunch of stuff and ends up with When I click the "Load" button, I get this error message: The log does not appear to change during any of this. Thanks so much for any help you can offer! (not the least of which is your wonderful program in the first place!) Should I try a different OS? I might be able to borrow a Vista or Windows 7 machine.
  11. I need to backup/archive a copy of Microsoft Student with Encarta Premium 2008. As far as can remember I never have had any problems with ImgBurn except when I try to open the program with this DVD which I want to make an image of. I get the following 2 error messages when I open the program. The drive is then invisible in the program, so I can't do anything with the DVD in ImgBurn, even though Windows has no problem seeing and using the DVD. Here's my log: I 11:24:24 ImgBurn Version 2.5.6.0 started! Again, if I do not have this particular disc in my drive, no problems with ImgBurn, and the disc seems to work fine outside of ImgBurn, but I need an ISO.
