  1. Lightning's a very capable programmer. IIRC he's looked into this but it's very difficult to do well. But his interest is in the hardware/burning side of things, and it shows. I don't think I've ever made a coaster when using his burning engine!
  2. That could be because of a registry entry from a previous DVDD installation. If you had never installed DVDD before I don't think that simply renaming the exe would allow Shrink to detect it...
  3. That wouldn't necesarily work. Shrink, for example, looks for a DVDD registry entry. Simply changing the exe name wouldn't add or alter the registry entried needed by Shrink.

    MP3 Editor

The freeware app I posted does not (and cannot) encode, it just edits mp3 files. Any unecessary re-encoding reduces quality.

Not really. Nero will convert the mp3 to a wav, edit the wav, and then re-encode it back to an mp3. That unecessary re-encoding will reduce the quality.

You could try MP3DirectCut (freeware) from http://mpesch3.de1.cc/#mp3dc - it doesn't re-encode so there's no quality loss.

    Sleep

Kirk, too much alcohol can cause insomnia...
  9. Probably because Opera was the first to do it. Plus, the pages in Opera are proper MDI child windows, and not "pretend" ones like in Firefox. Opera has an extender which will show arrows when there are a certain number of tabs on screen, so that you can scroll across them. I can't seem to find that option now, but it's there somewhere...
  10. There are RSS links on many web pages, such as the BBC's. You click on one and you subscribe to a newsfeed. In Opera, they arrive like emails...
  11. Shamus, if you try Opera, you'll find a load of useful things already built-in. Such as an RSS reader, chat client, and a bittorrent client. All these are native and don't need java, etc. to run.
  12. I don't save tabs, and the only time a bunch of tabs gets loaded is after a crash, which rarely happens. But I've never noticed the problem you mentioned. Have you looked at the opera forums to see if anyone else has similar problems...?
  13. Is there any chance of this thread staying on topic...?
  14. As Opera is free, and a fairly small download (3.5MB) it's worth a try. I only ever use IE for windoze updates (as that won't work with any other browser). I also have Firefox which I use now and again.
  15. My favourite browser, Opera, is now completely free - no ad banners or anything. So, along with Firefox, you now have two excellent, free browsers to choose from, and can dump that insecure, fossil of a browser called Internet Explorer... http://www.opera.com/free/
  16. Ohhhh... is this about cricket then? *yawnnnnnnnn*
  17. It's good to see you all back Hehe, there's even a smiley, just like some other dearly-departed forum had...
