But it IS blank. It is retaining the info from the previous burn after the burned disc has been replaced with a blank one.

OK, now, it baffles me why when I put a blank disc in Imgburn claims it is not empty until I close and restart Imgburn.

I've tried 8x. I dialed it down to 4x just to see if that helped. I have to find my cleaning disc and then I'll try that. I think your guess is probably right. After a few times I noticed the error message came up immediately after the tray cycle between write and verify.

Addendum: Afterwards, it does not recognize that a disc has been ejected or a new one loaded.

As near as I can tell the burn succeeded. I can play the resulting DVD and see all the files on it. Interestingly, this problem started simultaneously with an upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I'd suspect a driver problem but Windows reports it is the latest driver. I'd suspect a firmware problem but it has the latest firmware (I flashed it again just in case of corruption). I'm using single layer Taiyo-Yuden disks, and burned over half of a 100 disk spindle flawlessly before the upgrade. Firmware update did it. Now it verifies around 10x. Don't know why I didn't think to look for that. Thanks!

I looked at the FAQ and did a keyword search. There are lots of complaints about this but none that I saw either applied here or led to a solution. I've got a home built computer with an LG WH10LS30 BD-RE writer. I'm using Verbatim single layer 16x dvd-r disks. Drivers are up to date. Imgburn used to record pretty close to that speed and verify quickly. But lately, records are running around 5-6x and verifies are 0.7x. Yes, that's less than single speed. I've been fooling around with the off and on for a week and it has me baffled. Log follows.
