  1. I received these details from Verbatim customer support - might be useful information for anyone in the UK The 437xx series has the Mediacode VERBATIMe, The 43804, 43811, 43812 have the media code CMCMAG BA5. So at least hopefully you can order selectively.
  2. Interestingly my issues started with the same thing. My Pioneer DVD burner would not burn past the layer break on Verbatim DVD+R DL printables. I couldn't find a firmware update (even with help here) so I thought I'd buy a Blu Ray burner to replace and that way could back up a few BDs I have that are known to fail (Pink Floyd Immersion boxsets etc) as well as burn the DVDs I needed to. Then the problems started with burning BDs........ I am going to talk to Verbatim and see if they can tell which discs aren't made by CMC
  3. Would you mind posting the Amazon.com link please? Just so I can compare with whats available in the UK. Many thanks.
  4. I'm in the UK and have always used Verbatim (way back to the days of burning CDs for mates). Bought through Amazon.co.uk where the vast majority of the reviews are glowing though several people have put "As others have mentioned the discs are made by CMC Magnetics. DVD identifier shows as "CMCMAG" BA5." Is there anyway of telling from the packaging who the 'real' make is? Or how I can get genuine Verbatim discs?
  5. I just thought I'd check a Verbatim DVD-DL I have also burned successfully using the Samsung writer (though it took an age to verify with a speed of only 0.5 - it did verify successfully) and that is a MKM-003-00. Maybe I'm being dim but when I buy Verbatim how am I getting other makes?
  6. Now this is worrying. The SL that burned okay is a CMCMAG-BA5-000 The DL that burned okay is a VERBAT-IMf-000 However both were Verbatim discs (SL a cake, DL from jewel case). If I bought Verbatim how did I get CMC?
  7. Following issues with the internal DVD writer on my laptop I've bought an external BD writer (Samsung SE-506CB). I've burn one SL and one DL fine, with no problems with them being verified. But since these first two every disc has failed verification (both SL and DL). Can anyone explain why as I'm getting through a lot of discs..... I 12:52:14 Operation Started! 8. Will try both (non-printable and slower speed) and report back. Thanks for your help.
  9. So Ive done some playing over the last couple of days as I borrowed a laptop from a friend and used that to burn the exact same images. All discs are Verbatim Printable - both SL and DL. Pioneer DVD-RW DVRTD11RS (the original burner used) SL DVD Burns and plays fine DL DVD Burns, fails on verify and only plays to the layer change when it freezes SL AVCHD Burns and plays fine DL AVCHD Burns, fails on verify and only plays to the layer change when it freezes Matshita -DVD-RAM UJ8FBS 1.00 SL DVD Burns and plays fine DL DVD Burns and plays fine SL AVCHD Burns and plays fine DL AVCHD Burns and plays fine All desks tested on both laptops and a Panasonic 220 Bluray player. All results on playback were the same. Can this be explained? Is it the fact that I'm using printable discs or could there be another issue? My Pioneer writer has never burned DL disc successfully from new so as far as I can see if I ever want to burn a DL disc my Pioneer is useless unless I can get it fixed. Can anybody help?
  10. Hi The burn doesn't appear to fail - its just the playback that doesn't work and stops at the same point on the 3 discs I've tried. I 15:47:49 Operation Started! 11. Can anyone help me with this? I am trying to burn AVCHD discs which are too large to go on a SL DVD. I've tried burning them to a DVD+R DL and then play them on my Panasonic 220 bluray player. The first layer plays fine but when it gets to the layer change it freezes and wont play. Looking through these forums I have checked the book type of the discs and the first layer shows as a DVD+R DL and the second as a DVD-ROM. Is this the problem? I have also checked a regular DVD burnt to a DVD+R DL disc and I have the same problem. I have a Pioneer burner and cannot see how to change the book type in the ImgBurn settings. Even if I could do I change it so that both layers are DVD-ROM or both layers are DVD+R DL? I have never had any problems with SL AVCHD or regular DVDs before and they seem to work fine. All my SL discs show they are DVD-ROM. Any help much appreciated.
