Can't make bootable CD from DOS image and extra files

I know this has been dealt with before, and I've read the posts, but I'm getting cross eyed and can not figure out to save my life how I'm going wrong with this seemingly simple procedure. I'm looking to make a bootable CD from a DOS bootable floppy image (D/L from allbootdisks.com) and I want to add two additional files to the disk (not part of the dos boot floppy image). My problem is that I can only see the two additional files when I look at the iso image created by imgburn in windows, but when I boot from the iso image, all I can see is the 20 or so dos 6.0 files (my two files are missing). So here's the scoop:

1. Open ImgBurn

2. Click Menu "Mode" Menu Item "Build".

3. Click Tab "Advanced" subtab "Bootable Disk".

4. Click to check "Make Image Bootable", set Emulation Type to "Floppy Disk - 1.44MB"

5. Mount my DOS 6.0 boot image using Virtual Clone drive, "Extract Boot Image" using ImgBurn, save it locally, and click "Yes" when asked if I want to use this new boot image in my current project.

6. In the "Source" window of ImgBurn select all the files in the DOS 6.0 Virtual Clone drive and the two additional files I want.

7. Change the output to an ISO.

8. Click the big Burn button.

Please tell me I'm overlooking something...... I've tried not adding the DOS files to the Source window, setting the Emulation Type to None, multiple DOS ISO files from allbootdisks.com including a Win98 boot disk.

Here's by burn log:

The bootable part is not part of the file system that the OS looks at, that's why you can't browse it or whatever in Windows.

When in DOS, the bootable image bit would need to have loaded the correct CD-ROM drivers in order to make the normal content (the stuff Windows can see) visible.

That content would be accessible using a different drive letter to the bootable bit, one that had been assigned to the drive by the CD-ROM drivers.

Note that step 6 is a bit wrong, you don't (or at least wouldn't normally) add the content of the bootable image to the source box.

Lightning, Thanks dude. I thought my head would explode last night. I was getting desperate on step 6. I'll do this with a win98 boot iso and see how far I can get.

Update: Just turned "Compatibility" mode on in the BIOS for the SATA (Intel ICH7) and all is good. CD loads as drive 'R' and files are accessible. Thanks again.
