trying to make .iso but get .bin/.cue instead - why?

I'm trying to make an .iso image file of a MRI (Magnetic Resonance Image) CD using ImgBurn. MRI is used in hospitals to take pictures inside the body. I've done this in the past with prior versions of ImgBurn and got an .iso file OK. Now I'm getting two files: .bin and .cue. Why? How do I get a normal .iso image file instead? I don't see any relevant settings in ImgBurn offhand.

Why is such a problem if the program defaults it to bin/cue instead of iso?

The program knows whats on the disc and sets the image target format according.

Probably this time the disc was written in a way that the iso container is not apropriate (multisession).

If you want an iso of that disc use Build mode and point the source to the root of disc.

Are you using the latest version of the program?

Thanks for the info!

Yes, I'm using the latest version of ImgBurn = 2.5.6.0

Why is it a problem?

Because I want the usual .iso format. I'm familiar with .iso as are most people. I never heard of .bin/.cue. Also I don't want 2 files where 1 should do.

Using the Build mode, I got the .iso file made OK, but it comes along with a .mds file. Why?

Also, the resulting image won't verify, producing all kinds of errors. Why?

You should post a log of the session that make you problem. Read the pink bit above. No log = :chair:

Also post the info from the box on right with the disc in the drive.

For .mds I'll let you use Google to find youself. You can disable the creation of .mds file in Settings.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the box on right"...

This bit :

My ImgBurn doesn't look like yours. Where are your tabs at top on the right?

I'm in Build mode with Source being D:\ my optical drive which contains the CD original to be converted into an .iso file.

My output is Image to a disk file: K:\KevinMRI\KEVIN_MRI.ISO

With those selections there is no set of data to be copied such as you have circled.

If I switch to Device output then I see a Device tab on right with a window containing info such as you have circled, and it contains the following:

However, as I said, I am not using Device output. I'm outputting the .iso file to an Image file on hard drive.

Is that sufficient info...?

Why are you verifying your new image against the old disc? The two are going to be totally different now in terms of file systems etc. The file data will still be the same though.

I'm pretty sure that if you manually override the program's selection of CUE/BIN in the Destination box and pick ISO instead, it'll prompt you and just save the user data from the Mode 2/Form 1 sectors (2048 bytes per sector) rather than the entire thing (2352 bytes per sector), thereby giving you a nice ISO.
