So here's the thing. I know i've got quality verbatim BD-R discs. My shop has never let me down. The thing is i can't seem to find the actual disc MID in IMGBurn. According to the changelog it should be easily visible. Well it aint for me. I insert a blank, go to explore mode and this is what i get. No MID present.

Also. Say i want to install imgburn on another machine and i've configured it just to my liking on my main rig. How can i configure it exactly the same on the other rig without having to swap back & forth between both machines and (un)check where needed. Is there some file like "config.ini" or something where imgburn stores user settings that i can simply replace on the 2nd machine and presto? identical settings?

Use an USB stick & portable mode.

Or install it in portabel mode and switch the

ImgBurn.ini

file between the computers.

The command used to obtain that info must be failing for some reason. Go into write mode without a disc in the drive, press F8 to enable debug mode and then insert your disc. Save the contents of the log window via the File menu and upload it so I can take a look.

Nope. It's always active for me. During burning aswell. Afaik it can possibly only cause issues with verifying (which i never do anyway). I'll give it a shot when i get back from work in about 5hrs normally. Doubt it will work though.

AnyDVD can cause problems not just with verifying. I verified that on two different computers with different drives, with AnyDVD enabled and VIDEO_TS jobs were burnt to DVD+RW discs, the Verify would fail. But, only on DVD+RW. And it was a weird failure. It failed right away and any attempts to burn to that burned disc, even with AnyDVD disabled, would also fail right at the start of the Verify. The only solution was to fully Erase the DVD+RW. Then, burning to them was fine again.

Indeed. I don't know if you had the chance to look at the logs. But the information window still does not give the mid. I saw myself in the log something about "invalid request" perhaps that ill have something to do with it. Can't remember it ever having worked from me

Ok, I've looked at your log in more detail now and can tell you that it's not working because the data returned by the drive is wrong/invalid.

byte 4 and 5 in the disc info are supposed to be 'DI' and yours aren't.

Hmm I fired up my BH10LS30 and that seems to work ok - at least with the BD-RE I had handy.

Do you have other discs you can try? They need to be BD-R or BD-RE... it's a different command to DVDs.

Your 2nd link just takes me back to this page. Did you mean the first link? That takes me to the place you purchased them from - but yeah, I can see the MID listed there.

The problematic ones are bd-r, i do have a few bd-re's ill see if they work. It's the latest firmware on that and other drives, with 1 minor difference. Speedpatched with mcse. My bd-re's are from a few different brands, I'll see which ones do show the mid if any. I'll post back in the weekend. No time to test till then.

here's the only 1 i had time to test. No mid in explore window either, nor on my bh08 (logfile 2) Disktype: see link http://www.amazon.co.uk/Disc-25GB-Single-Jewel-Speed/dp/B000IU3Z2C/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1377726902&sr=8-10&keywords=maxell+bd-re

don't know if this is a dumb question or not but if it can read the descripters etc & toc, shouldn't it list the mid aswell or is that listed in a seperate part of the non-recordable prefab data?

The problem here is with your drive reporting invalid data in the disc information structure. I have no idea how or why it's doing that, but without the 'DI' signature bytes, my program ignores the response - even if the rest of it looks valid (which it does).

Haven't tried safe mode no, about the controller no idea. Ain't that in the debug log. It does make me think if the speedpatch firmware isn't to blame. I still have the original fw, might flash that one to see if it makes any difference.
