Cannot Burn on my Laptop, but burns well on that of my wife

I have a big Issue with burning BluRay Disk using TSST Corp external drive (USB2) SE-506bb (labelled Samsung)

So I bought a spindle of 25 BDE SL (25Gb) with Manufacturer ID code Ritek-BDr-003

On my Dell Inspiron 17R, all 20 attempts of burning fail, despite using different settings and desperate trial and error setups. The failing more or less follows the same pattern:

1: The first 20% of the burn seems sooth

2: than gradually, the speed drop drastically and the device buffer drops to 50-20% at a staggared way, usually once every 3 seconds

3: This keeps on until either the burn is not successful, or if it goes till the end, the verify test results in errors

4: Another specific symptom is that burnt disks do not have a smooth finish when looked closely, but haphazard concentric rings or layers.

Now the nice part is that when I plugged the drive on my Wifes Asus laptop, the drive burnt smoothly the Ritek as around 2.2x speed on first try!

Evidently, I have something frong on my laptop (running Windows 8.1)

What can I do to diagnose and solve the problem which seems to be software related within my Windows ????

Seems that the system loose the drive in the session. Try disable USB selective suspend in power settings.

The rings you see are caused by the burn at different speeds. That should not be a problem if it gets to burn and verify the disc successfully.

Please read the pink box above and post a log if the problem persists.
