Hello!

Please, help me, I'v read numerous topics in many forums and posted in some but nobody is replying, don't know what to do, don't have friends with Xbox360 to ask. :/

I am trying to burn a XGD3 game, I am using VERBATIM MKM003-000 Made in Singapore, brand new. My notebook's drive is Optiarc DVD RW AD-7580S FX20. I'm burning with Truncate method, until the end of disc. IMGburn 2.5.8.0. I used to burn old xgd2 games perfect, don't know what happened. Here is log. I've read that this is bug in the firmware or a problem with the disc media and can't set the optimal layer break 0 as the game requires. Wasted a couple of discs. When I insert the burned disc in my Xbox (latest RGH, ISO went twice with abgx360 before burn), it's just shows Play Game icon, press it, goes to black screen and than returns to dashboard. I really hope there is a different solution than "just go buy a new burner".

What do you mean wrong hardware, what's the right hardware??? Is there more specific DVD+R DL disc than Verbatim which can have normal layer set. I made a try on my other Sony Vaio notebook, and got the same layer brake error:

I don't want to burn the whole Image, as I said in my first post, I'm doing the truncate method (write until end of disc at 98%) as many people reported this method works. I am familiar with the Lite-on burnerMAX overburn thing. Problem is, "successful" tutorials with the 98% method and normal DVDwriter get the same error at layer break as mine and it is considered normal and the games play fine. I am doing everything right, yet nothing. I have burned a standard 8GB game and things went 100% right, so my RW drive is OK. I am reading reports that downgrading to IMGBurn ver 2.5.7.0 fixes this problem. LIGHTNING UK!, do have any insights on this?

It seems that ImgBurn cannot override the .dvd file's layerbrake for some reason. I've selected Calculate optimal, but it just can't replace the 2086912 break to 2133520.

Here's what I've read. I don't get it, so every time ImgBurn will set leayerbrake to 2086912 even thou in my file is 213..... ? Should I set it manually rather than Calculate Optimal in the settings?

"Please ensure that the layerbreak is set as 2133520 in the .dvd file.

If you already have the XGD2 (or other) layerbreak value set in
ImgBurn, the .dvd of the XGD3 ISO will override that setting and use
the proper layerbreak.
As mentioned above, ImgBurn will automatically reposition/limit the
layerbreak to 2086912 when burning to regular DVD+R DL discs."

I don't understand what you're trying to achieve here.

You'll never get the layerbreak in the correct place with your hardware and the program will always report the error that your drive returns when it tries to set it to something it can't do. This is nothing to do with the version of ImgBurn, it's a hardware limitation. The stuff you read about downgrading is from people that have no clue what's actually going on behind the scenes.

The layerbreak setting should be left on calculate optimal so it's read from the .dvd file.
