Windows 7 KB3001554 -> ImgBurn hanging on "Reserving Track..."

I fixed this, just passing along my experience...

ImgBurn has been successfully burning Blu-Ray discs for me for months.  This week it stopped working.  It would display the "Reserving Track" message and pause indefinitely.  I left it running for hours, even overnight, and it did not get beyond this point.  It was necessary to do a hard reboot (i.e., via power button) to get out of ImgBurn and try again.  I assume that the drive or OS was never responding to the last step, or not sending the expected response.

Stuff I tried:

- Different disc manufacturer:  Happened with both Memorex and Ri-Data.

- Different drives:  Swapped my Lite Scribe with an LG.

None of the above worked.

I could still burn non-Blu-Ray discs (e.g., dual layer DVDs) successfully.

I checked the Windows update history and found that the most recent activity was an update installed 9 days ago (2014-10-02):

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3001554)

Nothing else was installed at that time.

The MS info (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3001554) is:

September 2014 update for DVD playback in Windows 7 SP1

"This update helps Microsoft improve customer experiences in DVD playback in Windows Media Player and Windows Media Center in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1). Check out the Prerequisites before you install this update, and see the "References" section about DVD playback."

I did the following:

- Go to Control Panel -> Windows Update -> View Update History -> Installed Updates (link)

- Removed the KB3001554 update

- Rebooted

I can now burn Blu-Ray discs again.

Sorry, I don't have any logs.  Also, I should mention that one disc left overnight (before KB3001554 was removed) actually did complete successfully.  But it paused for 6 hours on the "Reserving Track" step.
