Reason Invalid Field in CDB

Recommended Posts

I like to know why I keep getting Failed! Reason Invalid Field in CDB.  When I try to change book type. I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64bit now. Works ok in Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.post-55016-0-49681000-1442992966_thumb.jpgImgBurn.log

I use Verbatim DVD+R 16x and Verbatim DVD+R DL 8x I get the same result using both.

THANKS

The newer LG drives use a different chipset and the firmware may use a different command for the booktype stuff (i.e. not the 'normal' LG one).

Are you sure the drive doesn't automatically change the booktype to DVD-ROM anyway?

There's also a firmware update available for it.

I did the firmware update still can't change booktype to DVD Rom. Bit Setting didn't work. I ahead burnt a disc didn't automatically change the booktype to DVD-ROM. Is the Raid causing the problem.

Nothing you can do about it, it's due to the different chipset. They changed that starting with the bh14/wh14 drives. It's the same reason why mcse cannot modify the firmware anymore to remove riplock. It's has no impact on playability, players that don't support DVD+r probably are non-existent nowadays.

Though cmc mag disc MID are NOT verbatim, if you bought them as such they're fake and you need to return them. It's ascot the cheapest lousiest quality you can get.

I have the same model manufactured: December 2013 in my Vista computer no problems. The one in Windows 7 computer manufactured: February 2015. Guess I put 2013 in Window 7 and 2015 in Vista see what happens.

These are the Verbatim Life Series replacement for AZO dye ones few years back. I still have about 40 discs left with AZO dye I'm saving those.

The OS doesn't matter, it's the DRIVE CHIPSET that's the 'problem'. It doesn't support booktype setting. Changing the OS won't make the drive capable of booktype setting.

They may be 'life series' and that's the cheap fake crap. Real verbatim DVD+r don't use the cmc mag MID.

How do I know which burner to avoid buying then ?  I got lucky my brother's standalone DVD player able play back the movie with no problems.

U don't, drives can use one chipset at one time and a revision could use another. But as I said nowadays there's pretty much no standalone player that doesn't support the DVD+R booktype. Luck isn't involved, you'd have to be lucky to find one that didn't.

That MID is a true verbatim quality stuff. The MID you posted in the IMGBurn log cmc-mag-m01 isn't. That's cheap crap.

Stick with that mcc-004-000 (or mkm-003-000 for double layer) and you'll be fine.

Life Series is Verbatim's cheap ass CMC media.  If you bought it in a brick and mortar store, it's Life series and CMC crap.  What you'll want is to look for DataLife Plus series DVD's online.
