Why don't DVD players have manual eject holes?

The designers of optical burner drives for PC's were smart enough to include them.  Because there are times where the drive will simply not open by its own power cycle.  I've had at least 1 DVD player where the disc wouldn't eject and using a knife to open the tray destroyed the disc in the tray.  Thankfully, it was a rewritable DVD+RW.  But imagine if it had been a WORM disc in my collection!  :o  Or something I checked out at the library!
