Issues burning XGD3 Games

I've recently had my xbox flashed to the latest firmware in order to play backups. I purchased a Pioneer DVR-S18LBK (which according to multiple burnermax payload tool compatability threads and lists, should work fine) and some Verbatim 003's.

I have tried, and failed, to burn a number of backups. They all appear to be successful throughout the burn, but validation always fails.  Skyrim so far has been the most successful, I have started a new game which has been played for approx 1hr, but it takes much longer than usual to get past the initial logo screen, and all loading times are much longer than the original disk. If I try to install the backup to the hardrive from the backup disk, it freezes at 37% and says the disk is unreadable.

I run them through Abgx360, using the following settings (not sure if relevant to you guys):

Following this, I open up ImgBurn, and either run the burnermax payload tool seperately (which works fine, showing the increased disk size) or just use the build in payload tool on the latest img burn (tried both to see if there was a different result, unfortunately there was not). This is my main imgburn screen before and after using the payload tool

I have tried a number of settings for each disk after looking online (also tried 3 different settings burning skyrim, all with the same result). Here is my latest burn & validation log:

I have also tried both calculating optimal layer break, as well as manual (2133520). Also played around with perform OPC on and off, and tried with enable burn proof both on and off. Also changed write speeds and buffer. The settings on skyrim have been along the lines of these:

I have also tried changing the advanced settings for the pioneer burner to “optimal writing speed” for the final burn, still resulting in the same thing (37% install on HDD). I have never burned xbox games before, so if anyone can shed some light on how I can solve this issue it would be much appreciated. Would rather not lose out on the money I spent on flashing/burner/disks if possible!

Thanks in advance, apologies if i've missed out any useful info and if this has been posted before, but i'm not having much joy and going through disks like there is no tomorrow!
