Finalize Disc Error (DVD+DL)

OnceBurned

Recommended Posts

I've read the "Problems burning double layer discs?" and i have a slightly unusual issue.

I've burned a cartoon series (Video_TS) on a 8.5 GB DVD+DL Sony 8x AccuCore disc but was only able to burn the disc at 4x instead and the disc could not be finalized.

The 6 hour show did play half way in my DVD Player before it got stuck half way through. It does seem to run on my computer but not on my DVD player.

Before i try to return the discs, could someone be able to confirm to me that it's the discs fault and not mine?

You didn't do anything wrong (apart from ignoring the layer break options), your drive just failed to burn the disc properly.

Your best chance of success with DVD+R DL media is with the Verbatim MKM-003-00 DVD+R DL discs - as per that thread you've read.

I'm gonna be honnest, i've burned over 1000 discs but less than 20 DVD9s since they're really expensive in my country. I found some on 40% off and since i've never encountered any problems with Sony discs before i gambled and bought them. (even Verbatim's are rare, they can only be bought online here)

I've always ignored the Layer break options (i'm asumg they kind of merge chapters?) since it worked before without issues.

Guess i'll just have to return them then. Thank you for the reply Lightning and thanks to your ImgBurn I've learned to trust no other, Cheers!
