OPEN SOURCE ImgBurn

Some of the reasons given by TurionAltec, one year ago..., not to go open source are somewhat lame. Lighting UK could release the source code in its current state and go on developing ImgBurn in the same way they are doing now. Probably somebody else would choose to port it to other OS with or without further help by Lighting UK, develop a more portable application using GTK+, etc. There are far better reasons not to go open source, like losing the posibility going non-free in the future, which is perfectly legit.

Open source is good in my book, and I do agree with you there are already great open source portable alternatives like InfraRecorder, and every GNU/Linux distro I know carries its own disc burning solution, so I don't think releasing the source code will be of much use for humanity as a whole, or the GNU project in particular :innocent:.
