Mets1fan
I am very new at this, so I apologize if what I'm saying sounds stupid. I'm trying to change the Book Type of my DVD+R drive to DVD-Rom, so that I can play the DVDs in a DVD Player that will not take DVD+R/RW. I have an NEC ND-1100A, with firmware 1.93. When I go to the change book type screen and NEC tab, no matter what choice from the pulldown I make, it says "Unknown (FAILED!)" and I can't change the booktype. Is there any way of making this work? Am I doing it wrong? Thanks in advance.
LIGHTNING UK!
If anything, you'd use the Ricoh tab as that's what old NEC firmwares with booktype setting support used. Failing that, you might find a patched firmware that allows for changing the booktype via the cdfreaks 'nec' forum.
BurnerFreak
An 1100A bitsetting f/w is available here http://www.herrie.org/ Click Firmware > NEC1x00 > NEC 1100 patched from the 1300 f/w use at your own risk!
lfcrule1972
I used that firmware on my old NEC1100 - it worked fine, I seem to remember that drive did not support bitsetting, come to that I don't think the new ND4550 does either ! However I removed that drive before Xmas to make way for the new ND4550 Liggy & Dee may have FW for the 1100 as well....
chewy
"that I don't think the new ND4550 does either !" confirm I can't imagine L&D's not doing it. All my 3550(same hardware) +R are bitsett Edited January 5, 2006 by chewy
