I am trying to download an AVI Video but when I go to write the file it gives the error message "Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format". Do I have to rename the file?

Please post the full log from that burn attempt (you can find it at Help/ImgBurn logs).

You'd do well to invest in a new burner, yours is ancient now.

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1517

go to the above website, click on 1.0c and save it on your pc, make sure there is no disc in the drive, double click on the downloaded firmware, avoid accidental power down when flashing , just follow the onscreen instructions , let the firmware install and afterwards, reboot your pc

I have done as you suggested and installed the new firmware. The device is there but I am still getting an error message about being incompatible. Tomorrow I will buy a Verbatim disk, and if that does not work buy a new burner...

not sure about corny's link but the latest firmware(2004) only supports these mid codes

and I don't see those 16x dvd-r's at all

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia?dvdmedia...20MAG.%20AM3%20

since they didn't come out until a full year after that firmware

like LuK said buy a new burner
