Your drive doesn't support the media you're trying to use (notice that it doesn't show Supported Write Speeds). The safest way around this would be to get Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media (preferably the 8x ones), as they're most certainly supported by your drive.

In addition to what mmalves said above, your firmware is odd. I looked at the NEC site and rpc-1 and couldn't find a reference to it.

You can click on the link provided and find the newest official NEC firmware for your drive.
