Latency is still not too bad on Intel C2D or C2Q (mines at 67 and having latency of 47 is not exactly doing Amd any favours in overall speed is it. The Icing on Intel platform would be lower latency for memory but I can live with it. If I want to see fast memory latency I can switch my X2 6000 on upstairs.

I'm not really concerned with trying to squeeze all the juice out of this thing just yet...it's plenty fast for me as it is. I'll be on first shift all this coming week so unfortunately I won't have much time to play with it.

My Q6600.

Is 72.6 ns

Yours 65.9 ns

But I only have 2048MB DDR2 667 MHz.

Noticed that memory prices have gone right down in the basement since last time i bought memory. Perhaps time to invest in some new memories.

I was getting a random IRQL error with the 0X0000000A, FF etc. errors, every other boot or so. Yesterday upon reboot I never got windows to load, just the IRQL error screen. A search suggested taking out PCI cards to troubleshoot. The only PCI card I have is my GPU which is PCI-e x16 so I took it out and reseated it and took out RAM and reseated it as well. When I rebooted I got the above screen after the post screen, then I reset CMOS and haven't gotten past this screen yet.

Yeah, I forgot about the one in my old machine...I actually used it for a day or two before my new card arrived and it worked. So if it doesn't get me any joy the next logical step would be to look at the mobo as the culprit, perhaps having a bad slot?

I won't be able to do anything until I get home from work.

Change GPU, no change

Try different RAM configuration, no change

Disconnect all drives but boot drive, no change

Repair Windows, no change

Boot into safe mode and install Logitech mouseware drivers and it's back to working harder than a three legged cat trying to bury a turd.

  • 3 weeks later...

Well yeah sorta....I did a quick install. Should I have done a complete install?

I am experiencing a little lag sometimes when I open different windows/folder etc. as well as moving around in Winamp.
