I'm hoping someone can help me here as I'm at a loss.

Burning doesn't work with Imgburn on my system. Nothing I do allows it to work, however, I can burn an ISO with the built in burning system for Windows 7 & iTunes was able to burn an audio CD, however Imgburn doesn't work, ever. I always get the following errors (however I can use the EXACT same disc with iTunes or the built in burning system & it will work, so it isn't the media).

Here's the log file.

UPDATE:

So for testing purposes, I installed Nero 9 Free. It works without problems, so why is Imgburn having so much trouble? Help! I do love my Imgburn!

Try burning at 8x or 12x. You might also want to try a lens cleaning disc on that burner.

Thanks for the reply, but...

While I will clean the lens (how did you come to that suggestion?), this still doesn't explain why using the Win 7 ISO Shell Burning options works, why using iTunes can burn a CD, & why Nero 9 Free worked after install.

Edit: Just tried at both 8x & 12x, No dice. Imgburn just doesn't function. Same errors as above.

Your drive reports the error (in this case - 'Write Error'), ImgBurn simply tells you about it.

Do 1 burn with 'Test Mode' enabled.

If that works, it's your drive plain and simple.

If that's the case, try changing the 'Write Type' to 'Incremental'.

Thanks again for the replies.

I cleaned the lens of the drive, then I attempted to burn at 8x with Test Mode. Unfortunately, test mode isn't supported by my drive. So...

So I just started the burn & to my surprise, it worked! Now, I'm beyond curious as to why Imgburn would give me these error messages due to a dirty lens, yet None of the other programs would. For me it's a curiosity. Is Imgburn that sensitive? Or just that powerful?

Thanks again for your help!

Software has nothing to do with the drive burning or not (beyond a VERY few options that may or may not make any difference). The drives ability to burn to media comes from the firmware in the drive, all software does is keep feeding it with data.

Test mode should work fine on DVD-R media, if your drive moans then it's another bogus error.

It seems that imgburn doesn't like the Sony DVD-R media I was using, however it still seems odd to me that the integrated shell burning handled the sony's fine but imgburn did not. Imgburn also didn't like the cheap dynex CDs I had but iTunes burned with them fine. That seems like a software issue not a drive one.

Still at least it is working for now.

Again, not a software issue! I can understand that you think it might be but apps just don't have that level of control over the burn.

All we do is tell it where (which LBA) and what (the data itself) to burn.

Nothing changes on a per MID basis.

Did you try what I suggested with 'Test Mode' ?
