Every time I start ImgBurn v2.5.5.0 on my Windows XP Pro SP3 system, one of the first lines in the log window is
"W! Duplex Secure's SPTD driver can have a detrimental effect on drive performance."

I don't recognize this program name and don't think I ever installed it. ImgBurn seems to be running just fine. Why am I getting this message and what should I do about it?

Here is the full transcript of what appears in the log window at startup:

I 13:06:44 ImgBurn Version 2.5.5.0 started!
I 13:06:44 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3)
I 13:06:44 Total Physical Memory: 3,395,704 KB - Available: 2,470,328 KB
W 13:06:44 Duplex Secure's SPTD driver can have a detrimental effect on drive performance.
I 13:06:44 Initialising SPTI...
I 13:06:44 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices...
I 13:06:44 -> Drive 1 - Info: PLEXTOR DVDR PX-716A 1.08 (Y:) (ATA)
I 13:06:44 -> Drive 2 - Info: PLEXTOR DVDR PX-850SA 1.06 (Z:) (ATA)
I 13:06:44 -> Drive 3 - Info: BC3135L XCF666V 1.0 (X:) (SCSI)
I 13:06:44 -> Drive 4 - Info: BC3135L XCF666V 1.0 (W:) (SCSI)
I 13:06:44 Found 2 DVD-ROMs, 1 DVD±RW and 1 DVD±RW/RAM!

FYI, Drive 3 and Drive 4 are virtual drives created by DAEMON Tools.

Thanks!

John

Daemon Tools installed that driver. Some other programs may install it too.

It's just a worning. As it states, sometimes can cause problems.

If you are happy with your system you can safely ignore that warning.

You should not live in the past anymore!

Current supported version: ImgBurn 2.5.8.0 Get it while it's current!

Thanks for your reply! Is there a different Virtual Drive program I could use instead of DAEMON Tools which would be more compatible with IMGBurn and wouldn't cause a warning?

Uninstalling Daemon Tools will not remove the Duplex Secure's SPTD driver.

You need to uninstall it separately using their tool. http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/faq
