My Panasonic DVD-S35 will not play DVD+R DL (Verbatim MIS) discs burned at 2.4x with ImgBurn on my Samsumg SH-S182D burner. The log on the burned disc shows that the booktype change of the disc to DVD-ROM was successful. The log is set forth below. Anyone see anything in it that provides a reason for this? Thanks.

I wonder why it won't play on my standalone. Below is the ImgBurn discovery info from the burned disc. Maybe that will help identify the issue. Thanks.

Are you able to play burned single layer discs?

check in another player, that one is pretty old and if you read the reviews had a lot of issues

without even reading the links posted above, i can tell you from experience that panasonic are notoriously picky about what discs they will play

While you're at it, update your burner's firmware to the latest version (SB06)

Remember to remove any disc from the drive and close the tray before applying the new firmware

Thanks for the welcome, and for all the fast responses. Amazing! To address the various questions and comments: is the burn log accessible once ImgBurn has been closed after the disc has been burned (i.e., is the burn log somewhere on the disc?) The Panasonic plays single layer burned discs just fine, but I have not yet had an opportunity to try the DL discs on another standalone. I did notice that the videohelp forum referred to had a number of comments that DL burned discs will play in the Panasonic, provided their booktype has been changed. The DL disc does work in the computer. I have not yet updated the drive's firmware to SB06 because I read somewhere that versions above SB02 will not allow the booktype to be changed from DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM (which sounded strange to me). Maybe that is just bad info.

Firmware / booktype thing sounds like bad info to me. Ignore it and update to SB06 or whatever.

Update -- I've burned three DL discs since my prior posts, and all work in the standalone. As far as I can tell, I didn't do anything different for these (as compared to the earlier ones that won't play) other than putting in the lastest firmware for the burner. In any event, all seems well now. Thanks to everyone.

The firmware update for example may have sorted out a lead in problem, TOC, so now your disc's are recognised.

Either way the other members who helped you will be happy to know you got it sorted.
