Other than that, the 1640 was probably maxed out anyway! Burn quality in general is supposed to be better than the 1640 and previous models. Any glitches the 1640 had, have probably been ironed out.

Yeah try and send them back and get verbatims instead. Also, your burner (OEM LiteOn 852) is actually quite an old one now (by todays standards), it's quite possible that hardware/firmware isn't great for DL burning.

Only 1 piece of advice here... avoid RITEK DL discs like the plague! Get some Verbatims and I'm sure you'll have much more luck. Yes, they do cost more, but there is a good reason for that - they work!

Mount that ISO in Daemon Tools. Load up PgcEdit and point it at the Daemon Tools virtual drive. Then have PgcEdit recreate the ISO file - it will make a proper image (if possible) with a layer break position that can actually be used.

All drives tend to follow the MMC specs now so drive support isn't really an issue. It's more a case of testing to find problems in their implementation of certain commands! It's also things like bitsetting and drive specific features / tweaks that need to be configured. i.e. all the cool stuff BenQ offers. Obviously newer drives also support new burning features - like layer jump recording etc. These features need testing as from what I've found, no two drives behave in the same way!

ImgBurn has a whole load of new code to do with layerbreak stuff. DVD Decrypter was 'stupid' in this area - as such, that error message didn't even exist in it. You cannot just magically create a layerbreak within an ISO file. Files have to start at the exact sector to allow a cell to meed the criteria required for a layerbreak position. So although the burn (and verify) went ok, you may have a problem at the layer change on your standalone dvd players. Basically what I can see from your log is that the main VTS group is probably VTS_06 and within that, there are no cells in any of the PGC's that start on an LBA that's a multiple of 16.

Keep clear of DVD-R DL. You can't configure the layer break position on them. Without that ability, you will surely run into problems playing them back on your standalone DVD player.
