  1. The speeds are determined by the drive/media/firmware combination. Look in the info window on the right of the program. It should say 'Supported Write Speeds'.
  2. If Pioneers own firmware flash util wont work for you, you could always try the dvrflash thingy. I'll update mine in half hour when this bloody DVDRAM disc (test burn!) has finished going. 1x is soooooo slow!
  3. You are using the right firmware yeah? In case you don't know, there is a 110 and a 110D. Both have different capabilities (namely, DVDRAM support) and as such, have different firmware.
  4. The Pioneer drives already booktype DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM when they're burnt. That's fixed and you can't change it. Do make sure you're using the latest version of the firmware though - incase it's something they added slightly later on. (The 108 is getting old now!).
  5. lol it takes more than seeing '4x' in the log to confuse me!
  6. Sorry, your drive is perhaps too old and doesn't follow MMC specs. Without buying the drive myself there is no real way for me to try and work around this problem - and being only a CD-RW drive, there is little chance of me doing that. All my testing is done on newer CD/DVD burners.
  7. Sending commands to a drive in the way I (and all other burning programs do), should NEVER kill a drive - unless of course, the drive is crap, the drive is crap Or the drive is crap. I think you can see where I'm going with this Once you get it working again, make sure you check that it's firmware is up-to-date. btw, for the formatting part, if its was on a DVD+RW, this 100% -> 0% is normal. It'll do 0%... 100% for the 'Foreground' format bit, then 0 - 100% for the 'Background' format. Those percentage values come direct from the drive, rather than me guessing how much has been completed.
  8. Nope, verify is nothing to do with anything at this state. Sync Cache is a command every program will issue. It's part of the spec when burning discs so I really am stumped as to why it's working one minute and not the next. As I said (and you confirmed), the drive IS still accepting commands so nothing software related has gone wrong, the drive really does still think that a 'long write' is in progress. Whilst TYG02 should be ok, I'm not 100% suprised you're having issues with G05 discs. Their quality isn't always at the level it should be - even when it is under the Verbatim name. Did you give the firmware update a try?
  9. Try other discs, try new firmware. The drive does the finalisation stuff itself, I have no control over it once I've told it to do it via that sync cache command. Is that ALL you get in the log or does it keep sending commands over and over? It's either thinking it's still busy (repeating commands) or it's hung (no more commands).
  10. If you don't use that, it's normally a 'per disc' setting and once you reboot, the drive resets itself.
  11. No he won't, it's not my file format. Sorry.
  12. It's not in v1.0.0.0 and the next one isn't out yet.
  13. lol, I'm right though...aren't I ?! (and some people require 'blunt' comments like that in order to get the picture!) Think of it in terms of people still using Windows 95. Microsoft don't give 'problems' in that OS the time of day. Drive manufacturers are no different. They'll check for correct operation with the lastest models and the most widely used discs, offering firmware updates where needed. I've not had a CDRW drive in my machine for years now, it came out the second DVD burners started doing the job properly. People just don't care for CDRW drives much anymore - unless it's the Plextor premium or something.
  14. Those silly sectors are the program working in minus numbers really. It's actually writing the leadin area on the cd. (LeadIn starts at LBA -150, finishes at LBA 0.) The drive is failing to write to the disc. There is nothing I can do/fix. http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/80mincdr.html Take a look at: {CD 1049} Taiyo Yuden Unbranded (48x) 80min CDR in Packs of 100 I don't bother with any cds other than those now. I'm not sure what you're using, but 'brand' names mean nothing. It's the dye type that's important. btw, isn't it about time you ditched your old cd burner and joined the rest of use in the year 2005 - where we now have DVD burners!
  15. Did you use the eeprom setting? And you know you have to burn the disc for it to change... yeah? Once burnt, look at the 'Physical Format Information (Last Recorded)#39; section and checkout the booktype in that bit. Do Not look at the ADIP one, it'll always say DVD+R DL.
  16. For DVD+RW, I think it's done when you format the disc, NOT when you burn it.
  17. Audio it 2352 bytes per sector, yes, but it's stored differently somehow and is identified as audio rather than mode 2 or whatever (I think!). The reason I can't detect audio is because it has no filesystem. I use filesystem signatures to determine the data type (mode 1, mode 2 etc). So without a filesystem, you get 'Invalid or unsupported file format' when you try to open/load the image file.
  18. By the nature of SPTI, if a command gets stuck processing, no other I/O seems to take place. That's why your machine seems unresponsive. Pretty much anything you do will involve some from of read from the hdd or whatever, and if that can't happen because a drive/driver got stuck, you're pretty much screwed!
  19. Yes, it sure looks like your drive can't stand those discs. As for copy + paste of the message, just press CTRL+C when it's on the screen!
  20. nah, the program wouldn't be able to detect the file format if it was audio. It's probably a ps2 game or something. VCD/SVCD perhaps.
  21. ImgBurn BURNS disc IMAGES. It won't help you with anything DVD Decrypter related (besides ISO Write mode stuff).
  22. Ditch your external box and make the drive internal - or buy another one that works properly.
  23. Ok Cynthia, I've added that switch for you. Lucky I did actually, I found some problems with the normal /CLOSE switch that had come about because of the new queue system! So 'Thanks' !
