  1. Hi, I think a great improvement to ImgBurn might be the option to burn an Audio CD. I checked the FAQ and I see "You're getting an error message about DirectShow decoding your audio files to digital silence when you try and burn an Audio CD." If you already can burn an audio CD, then perhaps this suggestion could be to make Audio CD a bit easier to find on the program? I sure can't find it. I see other threads that seem to suggest it can be done somehow. I don't see it in the list of Filesystem types for the CD either, which I thought maybe would have the feature hidden. Forgive the stupid question, if it's already implemented. At least I checked the FAQ!
  2. Title says it all. The .DLL has 32 in the filename... so I'm unsure if I should download it. Thanks
  3. Quick question: Is the .VOB chapter selection, etc, that was present from DVD Decryptor never going to be implemented in ImgBurn? I realize ImgBurn is basically DVD Decryptor + New - CSS... but I didn't realize that other features went missing. The reason I bring this is up is because one guy didn't know that ImgBurn was the "new" DVD Decryptor, and I tried to "lead him to water", but he said he wasn't going to touch it because of this one feature he uses. Please discuss!
  4. That's a damn good idea. My brother usually deals with office backups. Even still I'll just "donate" them to work as it will make me feel less stupid about wasting money on busted DVD-Rs. By the way, I see that there are recommendations with getting Verbatim. I will throw my two cents in here and say that that advice should be given with caution, as Verbatim has used a whole range of SHIT -> GOOD spectrum quality DVDs... Whereas Taiyo Yuden itself is the manufacturer, you are always guaranteed to get "the good stuff". Am I wrong? I have found a pack of Verbatims to be made in Taiwan and I think it was either CMC or some other bugger ass production...
  5. Thankfully they are actually mine, I bought a 100 pack and didnt realize that certain places sell them quite cheap... I keep them at work I burn stuff there too... There are mine and not works, thankfully. If my work (or any place I worked) bought Taiyo Yudens on their own, I'd be very impressed!
  6. 1. Sorry for posting this in the wrong forum 2. Thanks for all of you being so helpful. (perhaps this Nero ASPI thing could be added to a FAQ, if it hasn't already?) 3. Lightning UK, the NERO thing they suggested fixed the problem, but did not change the strange looking "Disc ID: 0@P-!-00", yet still burns at the speed it's susposed to say. What do you make of it? 4. I have some Taiyo Yudens at work, as I am kicking myself as I have 150 or so DVD-Rs that I need to somehow get rid of. Any suggestions on how to do that without giving me the feeling that I wasted my money completely?
  7. .... also, I am running a Japanese version of Windows XP. I wonder if that ATIP stuff ties into ISO charsets that the OS uses? Perhaps that's too much of a longshot... I'd best leave that talk to the experts
  8. I have an nvidia controller, a while back I installed the drivers in this package: 15.23_nforce_winxp32_international_whql If you have any hints as to what direction I should go down, I'd be very grateful. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but the fan on the north/south bridge fan quit working, and its usually quite hot. Other than this DVD-ROM not getting the ATIP data properly, I haven't really noticed any other performance issues... just thought I'd be honest. Thanks again... and great software.
  9. Could the fact that it's saying ATA and not SATA / SCSI be the problem? (hides under pillow)
  10. I have edited this, but it's still a problem...? I've read archived forum posts, people having the same problem. Now I'm getting it. I got a SATA DVD burner, and I keep getting this damn error. I 02:30:18 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 02:30:18 Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 02:30:18 Total Physical Memory: 2,096,616 KB - Available: 1,650,244 KB I 02:30:18 Initialising SPTI... I 02:30:18 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 02:30:18 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD
  11. Lightning UK!, if it is improved a bit, this will be much appreciated. The only reason I was writing about this is because I have a lot of scenarios where I would like to burn, let's say, 10 files, where 3 of those files preserve their full path names, 2 of them relative, and the other 5 to be in the base root DIR of the CD, ignoring the pathnames. With the interface as it now, I am not able to "verify with my eye" that this will be guaranteed a success on the image. If there was even just ONE more column to the right of the files to be burned showing the directories that the ISO tree will create for them as their "burned" path, then I won't need an "Explorer type view", though it would be nice I suppose... What do you think of the column idea? Much appreciated!
  12. I do realize it wasn't designed with our features in mind, yet at the same time, you've made it actually have functionality to burn files to CD / DVDs which isn't burning images. So, it doesn't seem too much of a stretch to improve that part and have everyone and their log using ImgBurn for this task instead of Nero. If this one facet was improved with an explorer type interface, it would just be... how do you say... pimpin'! The current interface feels too much like CDRWIN's terrible implementation for this idea, although not quite THAT bad. Now I see you are considering implementing if time permits. Wicked. If this ONE thing was done, and more people spread the word through the grapevine as I would happily do, I could see a TON of people (like myself) switching from Nero to ImgBurn permanently. I doubt I'm the only one. I would even donate some money I have lying around cause then I'd never have to pay for a Nero license. As far as the interface thing, I completely agree with JDaniele. My complaint about the simple interface in place is that you can see what folders / files you've added to be burned, but you don't quite see the way the tree layout will look like because the folders you place in that box have the flag option to be part of the root iso tree or preserve the files, etc. etc. In a nutshell, you simply see what are going to burn but not what the true layout will look like, even if it will look "kinda" similar. Thanks a ton Lighting UK! for considering it.
  13. Perhaps I should just ask the question flat out: Will ImgBurn ever have this List / Explorer view that Nero has with the 2 windows to see the ISO tree as well as the fires on your HDD? If no, why not? This won't add that much to the executable size, ... if you look at Nero Micro / Lite, you can see that someone has packaged just Nero Burning Rom 8 in around 20 megabytes... So I don't see anything taking an entire gigabyte to implement... (I don't mean the take what was said earlier out of context, so I'm not necessarily quoting here).
  14. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "RAW" writing. What about when burning .NGC GC backups that basically have no header? If you load these badboys up in Nero, they show them as RAW files and you have to pick the MODE1/2 settings, etc. But ImgBurn picks the default options and burns these without a hitch. Is that a different type of "RAW" burning? Sorry if this question sounds a bit stupid... I'm no CD-write-mode guru. Thanks!
