  1. well I checked the IDE settings and I couldn't change it to DMA because it was frozen on PIO mode. So I had to uninstall the IDE controllers and all is fine now. Burning fine now with perfect device buffer. Thanks anyways for the effort.
  2. Ok I have never had this happen to me. My Lite-On dvd burner (DH 20A4P) is up to date on firmware but for some reason when I go to burn a movie it does the OPC like usual then it starts to burn and all of a sudden the device buffer goes haywire. It never stays at 99% or 100% like before. I am using +rw Sony discs so I won't waste discs and am also using Taiyo Yuden (TYG-02) authentic discs -r or +r and still get weird device buffer problems. My Lite-On is only 3 months old. I am using Windows XP with SP2. I recently reformatted my PC 3 days ago because computer would not stay on sleep mode. I burned movies after I reformatted my PC with no problems so what is going on? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I also have Kaspersky Internet Security which IMGBURN is under trusted programs list.
  3. ok good I downloaded the right one. Thanks for everyone's help. Just wanted to tell anyone looking to buy this burner that is the absolute best.It is quiet when it burns and reads discs. It burns faster than the speed I select and with the ability to Booktype forever to DVD-Rom is simply great. Best money I have spent.Sorry Sony DRU-840A you have been replaced.Did a couple of DVD+R DL discs which I booktyped to Rom and the burn speeds are just out of this world.Well that's all for now.
  4. ok good I downloaded the right one. Thanks for everyone's help.
  5. Well the one on there says there is one to MATCH MORE MEDIA and is about 977.58kbs download size.Would that be the one?
  6. Thanks for the reply Cynthia.Liteon is supposed to be a good burner right? do you know if there is a firmware update for this?
  7. Ok I just bought an Internal Liteon DVD burner but was wondering if it was a genuine Liteon and not a rebadged item. The model number is DH-20A4P08C and was manufactured on December 2007. Got it for $42 at my local Wal-Mart. Is it safe to have 2 dvd burners in 1 computer? The reason I ask is because I already have the Sony DRU-840A and just bought this Liteon which I hope is a true Liteon. The DRU-840A is set to Master so can I set the Liteon as slave? Thanks in advance.
  8. Well what I did was click on Tools-Drive-Change Book Type-selected Samsung-made changes to DVD+R media and it said successful. Funny thing is after I did a burn and disc came out I waited for a minute then reinserted the disc in the drive and it still read it as a DVD+R disc instead of DVD-Rom.I got the physical info from Imgburn and it said last burn was burned as DVD-ROM.So does that basically mean it is a DVD-Rom disc? I didn't go into the Change Advanced Settings area.
  9. Where is this located at? Steps would be greatly appreciated.
  10. Well I did a full erase on a DVD+RW using IMGBURN and after it was done it made it into a DVD-Rom. I am so happy for that. I am hesitant whn it comes to patching and don't really see a need for it.I was just wondering if there was any new firmware update for my drive because I don't want to burn anything at a high speed and have it crash on me.Thanks for the help and if anyone knows where I can find firmware for my drive please let me know.
  11. I haven't updated the firmware yet on the new Sony burner basically because I can't find it anywhere.Should I give the Samsung Patch Utility a try before updating firmware? Also how do I booktype using IMGBURN? Will the option in IMGBURN called Auto change book type do that for me? Where did you guys look at to figure out it was a Samsung 202? How can you tell this so quickly? Also as far as the Samsung patch utility goes which firmware should I use with the Samsung 202 and still retain Booktyping capabilities? Should I use Lite-on firmwares or Samsung firmwares from CODEGUYS.RPC1.ORG?

  13. Have tried all that and no luck.Is the Sony DRU-840A any good?
  14. So then what would you guys recommend for me to replace the Pioneer burner I have right now? I would like to have Booktype capabilities also. Thanks in advance. I want something that's higher quality than my pioneer burner just not over $150.
  15. I am on Plextor's site right now and am looking at the PX-800A.How would I know where I can get the OEM ones? Wouldn't they be from Plextor's site?
  16. My computer is the Sony Vaio PCV-RS630G.I don't think it can do SATA.The reason I am also thinking of Plextor and Benq is because I like the fact that you can change the Booktype setting to DVD-Rom.
  17. well I'm looking into the Plextor drives or the BenQ drives but don't know which is better. What is the difference between SATA and ATAPI? I currently have ATAPI but was wondering if SATA would also work in my computer t replace the Pioneer burner. What is the best Plextor burner out there that can booktype to DVD-ROM? Same for the BenQ burner that can booktype. Which of these burners are better in Plextors? The PX-820A ATAPI $64.99 The PX-800A ATAPI $79.00 The PX-810SA SATA $89.00 How would I know if my computer can accept SATA?

  19. Well that's funny because my old burner which was the Pioneer DVR-A08xl would always burn at 8.1x when I selected 8x burn speed and this new burner doesn't burn at that speed. My new burner actually burns at 6.9x throughout the entire burn process.
  20. Is OPC need to be ticked? Is it safe to not have OPC ticked? The reason I ask is because my new burner will not stay at 8x burn speed which is what I always select as my burn speed.I don't know if OPC affects burn speeds but have been told on this forum that it might have something to do with the burn speeds not being consistent. The speeds vary from 6x to 7x and so on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Below is one of my burn logs. I 21:28:16 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! I 21:28:16 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 1) I 21:28:16 Total Physical Memory: 2,096,492 KB - Available: 1,675,732 KB I 21:28:16 Initialising SPTI... I 21:28:16 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 21:28:16 Found 1 DVD
  21. BTW, you can see this phenomenon clearly if you look at the Graph Data results as Cynthia described. so there's no way of keeping the burn speed at 8x then? is OPC really needed? can I untick the OPC option?
  22. My log: You could attach this file (or a similar one), it should show the actual write rate during the burning. First off thanks for replying. so what now?
  23. sure thing let me do another burn right now and get back to you with the log info. Here is the log from The Onion Movie. I 21:28:16 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started!
