ISF Newbie (1/5)

  1. Thanks. I didn't know if the timing of the tray was control by ImgBurn or the Nimbie firmware. I'll give them a call! -D
  2. I've burned well over a thousand DVDs with the Nimbie but on this last run I'm getting this error about every 7 discs or so. But last time it was only two discs until the error: I can cancel the dialog box and then typically click on the "disc is loaded" button (or something like that) in the loading dialog: Sometimes the disc is in the tray but it's not closed. Then I just click the 'close tray' button. Here is something I noticed... Usually, there is a delay of about 2-3 seconds between the disc dropping and the tray closing. When I get this error, it *seems* that the tray is closing almost immediately after the disc drops. I think the dropping mechanism is running at the same speed, and I've thoroughly shuffled and separated the discs. I've tried rebooting and power cycling the Nimbie and still this error happens every several discs. I'm running Win-7 64bit and the latest ImgBurn. The last long run I made was only a few weeks ago and nothing has really changed with the PC or the Nimbie since then. I'm also still in the same batch of T-Y Watershield discs from the last two error-free runs, so I don't think it's the discs.
  3. I used to have access to a robotic arm style standalone DVD duplicator to make copies of the dance shows I video, but it's not available anymore. I've used ImgBurn for many years to make short runs, and when I saw it now supports the Acronova Nimbie I purchased a unit. The tutorial for setting up ImgBurn was straightforward and it worked on the first try. I've since burned over 150 DVDs in the past several days and I'm pleased with the quality of the burn. I started at a conservative 4x speed and at that speed with a verify it was around 3 discs per hour. I've since been upping the burn speed and after several tests I ran the last batch at 12x. I'm burning Taiyo Yuden Watershield DVD-R rated at 16x. Below is a typical result from DiscSpeed. Thanks for adding the Nimbie support. It's really helped my workflow.
  4. The ONLY reason I haven't purchased a duplicator is because I'm afraid of the software to drive it. I've jobbed out some of my duplication work to a third party who uses a large tower system with a built in HD. Supposedly, it makes an exact copy of the master disc, and maybe so. But the quality of the burn is very inconsistant. I'm losing money haveing to re-burn DVDs as replacements, but I've NEVER made a bad DVD using ImgBurn. So if I could find a robotic system which would work with ImgBurn I'd buy it in a New York minute. I've had my eye on this unit from Aleratec, called the RoboRacer: http://www.buyaleratec.com/aldvdcdrolsf.html I'm trying to find out if the auto loading/ejecting mechanism is purly mechanical and is actuated by the cycling of the tray or if there is a command sent from the PC. If it's mechanical, I would think ImgBurn *might* work. The only issue I forsee is that ImgBurn waits for the user to load the next disc. If it could be put on a timer, AND the load/eject is mechanical, then it would work. As it is now, I'm content in loading and unloading manually. I have my kids trained that if they see the tray sitting open with a disc in it, take it out and put it on the gray spindle and take a blank from the black spindle and close the tray. Maybe I'll design my own loader ...
  5. Thanks for all your help, I appreciate it. The Verbatim say Made in Taiwan on the cake box lid, but maybe it's a bad or counterfit batch. I just tried a Philips brand and it worked ok, and I'm finishing the burn run using Verbatim DVD+R (16x) and they work ok too. Both Verbatim styles (+R & -R) are the good "DataLifePlus" style. This is the first time I've had issues like this. After I finish this batch to deliver to my customer, I'll try 4x on the -R discs and see if that makes a difference. Do you know if the verification is just checking the disc, or is it comparing the disc with the source files? Could it be a problem reading the source? I wouldn't think so....
  6. Apply the latest firmware (GL0J) and try again. Remove any disc from the drive and close the tray before upgrading the firmware. Another coster, at 70% verify: I 17:27:45 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! I 17:27:45 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 17:27:45 Total Physical Memory: 4,192,448 KB - Available: 2,972,768 KB I 17:27:45 Initialising SPTI... I 17:27:45 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 17:27:45 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD
  7. I've been using ImgBurn for years and it's always worked fine. Yesterday and today, I've made 7 costers in a row. The error happens during verify. Verfify starts out fast then gets slower and slower (1x) until it fails about 2/3rds of the way through. I'm using the same brand disc I always use: Verbatim DVD-R (8x). I've literally made hundreds of DVD's over the past six months without any issues until now. I've tried a fresh reboot and only running ImgBurn. I've tried slowing down the burn to 6x. I have a fairly current PC (Q6600 CPU, Vista Ultimate 64-bit, 4GB RAM). I do video work and sell the DVDs, so it's pretty important to me I get this resolved. The discs appear to play fine, but since I'm selling these discs I need to pass the verify. Any and all help appreciated. Here is the log. I clicked "Continue" a couple of times to see what would happen: I 15:58:10 ImgBurn Version 2.4.1.0 started! I 15:58:10 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 15:58:10 Total Physical Memory: 4,192,448 KB - Available: 2,831,288 KB I 15:58:10 Initialising SPTI...
