  1. As it turned out, the problem was that one of the connector pins on the drive was extremely bent and wasn't making contact with the connector at all. When I bent it back into the correct position, the drive functioned ok.
  2. I recently created a backup file which I split using gsplit and then burned to 2 cds using imgburn. It verified ok but when trying to copy it from the disk on a different computer I'm getting the message "cannot copy disk: the request could not be performed because of an i/o device error". I've attached the log from the burning seesion. Help appreciated. (Edit: unable to edit subject.) ImgBurn.log
  3. I've been trying to write data files to dvd+rw discs without success. The files were created by "gsplit" and originally was a 9gb backup file. It seems to be able to load the file, but the "build" icon is dimmed. I've attached the log file. Help appreciated. ImgBurn.log
  4. Thanks for your help. As it turns out - I finally tried putting the card in a different computer (another dell dimension but a 4600 series). There was no longer a problem with the card or the dvd drive. There was a kind of strange problem on the original computer (dimension 2350). It has a 60G wd harddrive and a 20G seagate. The wd is master with the seagate slave. When I tried to connect the wd as a single master, the computer couldn't find it on boot. The computer was able to find the seagate as a single master. I had to put the wd drive back together with the seagate slave before the computer was able to find it, for some reason.
  5. We've got a via 6421 sata card and a dell PBDS DVD+RW DH-16W1S sata dvd drive. It seems there's a problem with either the card or the drive or both. We've got windows xp pro sp3. The drive functioned well in the beginning (I think before we updated to sp3.) We updated to the newest drivers for the card (from via) and updated the firmware for the drive. The firmware update gets to 100% but then seems to hang although I was able to exit. When I try to look at the drive properties in the Device Manager, it causes the program to become unresponsive and I have to use "End Task" to exit the Device Manager. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Ultra ATA Controller and made sure that the IDE cable is 80 socket. (The computer is a dell dimension XPS_R 2GHz with 512M ram. The bios DMA option is set to "Auto". When I try to use Image Burn it hangs at the "writing lead-in". Sometimes it gives the message that there was an I/O error and sometimes that there was a DMA error. The media is CMC MAG AM3 (Staples). I 19:34:59 ImgBurn Version 2.5.2.0 started! 6. I recently downloaded an ntsc dvd iso and burned it to a dvd using imgburn. The 1st 2 parts played ok but the 3rd section seems to have been corrupted and stops playing after a few minutes. I then downloaded the 3rd section separately as an mp2 file and it plays with no problems. Is there a way to convert the mp2 to ntsc dvd using imgburn? Thanks.
  7. Would you know of any programs that can do this? From what I've read, some people have said that nero v6 can do it. Thanks.
  8. Is there a way to do a udf format on the rwdvd so that it can be used like a floppy - so that you can write and erase single files as is possible using incd with rwcds? Thanks.
