  1. Hi I have purchased a HD Movie camera with its own software, it out puts to normal VOB files etc and uses its software to make a DVD, however do you think it is worth using a program (please suggest one) to convert to ISO and then burn using Imgburn. Just a little worried as the subject matter needs to be kept and im worried about the dvd not playing after a few years. Use good quality media TY's Many thanks
  2. my thoughts exactly. cheers
  3. its getting better!! First burn using new version of IMGburn
  4. Noticed talk re testing the new version back in March, how are things getting on with regard to a release date?
  5. Here is a major part of your problems, you are using media that's not fit to be used as target practice. Speeds of 2.4x in -R media is unheard of. please get some decent media, verbs or yudens, only then you can be sure of drive problems. I am using Yudens, just trying everthing and every disc I have, to make comparisons. Yuden results were worse than the Datawrite when I get a burn!!

  7. Hi Lightning, I wonder. When I up dated the firmware to the latest & it went through the reboot, the computer didnt reset, it just hung up. I manually reset and it came up with a drive error, updated the firmware again, this time it appeared to work ok. Could this of mucked things up?
  8. Still trying to get a good burn out of the Benq, all but given up me thinks. Im sticking withthe NEC, Benq is going into a build for another person, cause I dont want the piece of cr**. Just did a couple more burn this morn, one on the Benq the other on the NEC Judge results for yourself!!!! Second result was burnt on the NEC
  9. thankyou, put my mind at rest
  10. Wot on earth am I doing wrong? On LUK advice upgraded to Taiyo Yuden G02 discs & a Benq drive. Its not working well, please look at scan, this is about the 10th Burn, I even knocked down the write speed to 4x. Would using the computer when burning cause problems? only surfing at the same time. Help.
  11. Yes it was the first burn and burned at 8x
  12. New BenQ drive & Taiyo Yuden G02 discs. Scan result attached. Worse scan than my trusty old NEC 4550?!!!! Think I have wasted my money!! Will burn spped effect things?
  13. As per my previous posts, ordered a new Benq drive & some TYG02. Disc have turned up today, but not the drive. aware the NEC for scanning is not very good, but just look at the result!! Will do exactly the same test when the Benq arrives
  14. Can I just check something with you, when I receive the Benq drive is it best to rip & burn using this drive? I used to find it was quicker to use the LG DVD rom to rip, then the burner to , well burn. Your thoughts? Mant thanks
  15. komblett for the drive, pity as would of ordered from SVP. Perhaps someone needs to request they stock BenQ Cheers again
  16. the olde, I hope you didn't take offense to my comment. I wasn't trying to sound like a jerk, which is why I started the post with "I'm sorry." I know all too well what it feels like to have problems with drives. I wish you luck when your new drive and media come in. I'm sure you'll let us know how everything turns out. Thats ok, just frustrating buying decent kit/getting crap results. Following LUK re discs & drive, so yes looking forward to new scan results
  17. Thanks for that. Tried SVP & Ebuyer but no listing for BenQ, any suggestions? Komplett has both the 1650 and 1655 in stock The only difference between the 2 being that the 1655 has lightscribe functions thanks, ordered a BenQ & some Taiyo Yuden TYG02 from SVP If thats doesnt sort it, its all going in the bin!!!!
  18. Thanks for that. Tried SVP & Ebuyer but no listing for BenQ, any suggestions?
  19. Cheers, I will order a Benq today, which model would you suggest? Thanks
  20. Don't panic the olde You haven't wasted your money...its just Nec drives aren't very good at scanning where as the benq,Liteon and plextor drives do very well in this area as Lightning as already pointed out You would probably be wise to invest in some better media too like Verbatim etc Scan done with a benq....... SO do you think I need to ditch the NEC and change with a Benq? as it appears two burners in the same computer for me would be overkill
  21. Laugh, I nearly cried. Spent out on new kit 64BIT CPU, XFX6800 GS card, decent drive, or as I read to believe & I get this type of result!!
  22. Hi LUK Tried to rescan using my other drive which is a LG, but just a DVD ROM drive to I need a writer to scan? Also burnt the same ISO using the same discs on IMGBURN & CLONEDVD, the one burnt using IMGBURN came out at 10% better than using CLONEDVD. Would this correct or does scanning the disc only provide the quality of disc not the burnt info? Thanks
  23. just about to try something else, using the same discs but will use my other dvd drive to scan will post results soon
  24. Tried again using different media, same ISO Is there a problem with the new firmware? Previous burns have had alot better result another scan before firmware upgrade, same batch of discs and another before firmware upgrade. I wonder if I have had a couple of rogue discs
