  1. To check back into this thread. I'm pleased to say that the Verbatim+R DL disc's i've tried have worked! My first effort with the new verbatims i got failed. The beginning previews and warning screens worked, but when it came for the main movie, it just turned black on my screen and stalled. I used dvd shrink 3.2 in combination with nero burning rom 6.0.0.0. Next effort was with imgburn and that worked like a charm. Thanks for creating imgburn and offering it as freeware! Thanks to all the people that have commented in this thread. Thanks for all the very helpful advice, it's really appreciated. Thanks again, Minipops.
  2. I'm really surprized by that. When i tried verbatim disc's back in the day, i actually could create a disc without write errors, but what i do now recall was when it went from my burner into my home dvd player.....that is where Memorex was the leader of the pack. When playing back a verbatim disc in my dvd player i would get small glitches and freezes, and usually close to the end of the dvd, but with Memorex and Maxell, i have literally thousands of glitch free dvd's. I'm not arguing your points or anyone elses, i'm just sharing whats been my experience.
  3. Low quality? Memorex is tried and true in the industry. They have been the most reliable media i have used, and i've tried em all, BenQ, Fugi, Verbatim, Kodak, Maxell, Memorex. Though i have only tested media in single layer dvd burning and not in Dual Layer, Memorex has never ever left me with a coaster, and thats no exaggeration either. Infact it baffles me that people are so positive about Verbatim media, because i tried it 5 years ago and could not sucessfully create a working, playable dvd. I'm quite new to the dual layer world so i am certainly willing to give them a try again. I'll certainly post if the change in media makes the difference (I doubt it will though). Thanks for the reply mmalves
  4. Here is my last attempt which got to 96% before it made a coaster. Here is the log file on that attempt. I 17:00:39 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 17:00:39 Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600 : Service Pack 3) I 17:00:39 Total Physical Memory: 2,096,236 KB - Available: 1,685,040 KB W 17:00:39 AnyDVD can interfere with ImgBurn's ability to verify accurately, please ensure it's disabled! I 17:00:39 Initialising SPTI... I 17:00:39 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 17:00:39 Found 1 DVD-ROM and 1 DVD
  5. Right click my computer and click properties, then click hardware and then device manager. Expand DvD/CDRom drives and see if your dvd drive shows up. You might find it in device manager with a yellow question mark or a ! symbol inside a yellow triangle icon. If you see the drive with one of those symbols you got some sorta problem. If your drive is plugged into the motherboard and has power to it, you should see it in device manager. Your drive might be disabled or it might need to be installed.
  6. Here is the error i got using imgburn when trying to write to a Memorex+R DL disc. W 16:14:20 Failed to Write Sectors 2033248 - 2033279 - Reason: Invalid Address For Write Can anyone help me understand what the problem is? Using XP SP3 Burner: Pioneer DVR-111D (with latest firmware) Media: Memorex+R DL 8x Max write speed I'm tired of making coaster after coaster at $1.60 a pop. Thanks, Minipops.
