    DVDInfo: where?

Where exactly are the newest versions of DVDInfo posted at? It doesn't sound as easy as it should, actually. For instance, the Download link here http://www.dvdinfopro.com/ leads to http://www.dvd-recordable.org/wwwimgs/medi...fopro/index.htm which is a different domain. From there, two versions are currently available, a stable release, 4.3, and a beta, 4.6, all of which expire today... actually, they expired last night for me. However, there's also downloads over at speedlabs.org at http://www.speedlabs.org/downloads/Tools/D...rosplmirror.htm with a 4.57 apparently an in house version. So, where will the latest version be?
  2. Is it possible to do any crossflashing on the 3500a?
  3. Except for a new Doctor and appearances by the Cybermen, K-9, and Sarah Jane, I know nothing about the new series. Wonder if Sarah will have a new body? I would guess Sarah and K-9 would be in the same story together, if K-9 And Company and The Five Doctors is any indication. I admit, I am mostly looking forward to the Cybermen episodes, too. Last year, Episodes 6 and 13 were the ones I was expecting. 6 was far more satisfying than 13.

    April 1st!

For some, it's tomorrow, for some, it's already here, maybe? Anyway, whenever you actually have your April Fools' Day, just be sure to remember not to neglect the holiest part of the season: trim your Spaghetti trees!
  5. Thanks for the update! I'll see what I can find for new updated chipsets.
  6. I was thinking you had had it last year, but, who knows if you still did, he says, covering his ass fairly well.
  7. Good thinking on your part! You're one of those rare programmers who thinks instead of just coding something in whatever is the easiest way to get it done.
  8. We're back on this subject again! Don't feel too bad. I remember finally learning the answer to this stupid notation myself from a post on the old forum. Still, a time duration error beats a time DILATION error, by any means.
  9. Didn't think of that. First drive http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&...+DVDRW4224INQ-D Appears to be a portmanteau of the manufacturer name (?) a plus sign and the drive ID string? 2nd drive http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&...=_NEC+ND-3500AG For the first drive, ImgBurn lists it as IOMEGA DVDRW4224INQ-D For the 2nd: _NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG So, what is being sent in the first part? ImgBurn added the DVD_RW part to the NEC name string, but, it is not sent in the ID string to RPC1.org.

    Voltage spikes?

Well, this would be my first major case hardware kill. Better get it out of the way, then! Have never had a power supply issue before. I've broken things before like hard drives, cracked external cases, scratched internal drive cases, broken off toggle switches, broken case panel tabs, broken case bezzle tabs, etc. The optical drives just died on their own. NO fault of mine! Strangely, the IAM warning was a "fluke." I am currently debugging a problem that is affecting system performance. It is not on some of past weekly system backups, so, it's not the voltage there. For some weird reason, system wide, programs were not accepting their options, even though they were listed as correct. Or some would "change" but when the app was closed and reopened, it would forget they were changed. On IAM's side, the upper threshold of the voltage is 13.2. Right now, on one of these restored weekly systems, the voltage is 13.188. Close to the threshold, but, not there. Thus, the alarm is not going off. So... well, what I am saying, I guess, is who the fuck knows?! All I know is there's no money to have this thing checked so there's no money equally to have it repaired or parts replaced. So, I'll just keep monitoring it for now.
  11. Is there a way to determine the supported speeds on a USB 2.0 port? By this, I want to make sure I am getting Hi-Speed (480 Mbits/s) out of the ports as opposed to being capped to only Full Speed. And, yes, something labeled as USB 2.0 may still be only Full Speed at max. I tried checking the Device Manager's entry under USB controllers, but, I am not entirely sure. The only thing listed as Enhanced was "Standard Enhanced PCI To USB Host Controller." Since my USB controller is listed as "Intel? 82801EB USB Universal Host Controller" I am not entirely sure I have an Enhanced controller present. So, I need to be sure. Otherwise, I want to check a USB 2.0 card I have on hand and see whether it is actually faster than my onboard MOBO's. Which, BTW, is the Intel D875PBZ, so, if anyone already knows the answer... Thanks!

    Voltage spikes?

I'm not much of a hardware person, though I am 1.) more knowledgable than most at it 2.) comfortable working inside the PC with the it 3.) adept at killing many pieces of it. Something I noticed today. I have a possible voltage problem and wanted to get anyone else's opinions on them. I have had Intel Active Monitor installed for about a year or two. When I first started using it, the first value in the Power listings, the first one under Power Supply Voltages, was always dangerously close to the red mark at the far end of the +12v threshold. Now, I am into 13, ranging from 13.2 to 13.75, with fluctuating results in this range. This has turned on IAM's warning for the Power indicator, lighting it red. (!) I haven't added anything that requires a power connection internally to the system since I have used Intel Active Monitor. I haven't changed anything internally in the hardware, either. Should I be worried about this extra 1 to 2 volts? Could the power supply need servicing? Thanks!

    LG Firmwares?

Well, this was a surprise! IOMEGA DVDRW4224E2Q-D - E112 at http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2021 recognizes the DVDRW4224INQ-D I guess the only difference is IN is for internal, since this is an IDE internal drive I have, and E2 is External USB 2?

    LG Firmwares?

Tried the A114 and A304 firmwares at http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1628 A114 did not detect a drive to flash. As for A304, I'm holding off on that. Requires a flash in full blown DOS, and, without knowing what this flasher and firmware might do to this drive, I am not using that particular firmware.
  15. No, that's Nevada where nothing is illegal.
  16. LUK; Is the drive ID that appears in the Destination bar next to the drive letter in the ImgBurn interface the same one that is sent to RPC? i.e. is it verbatim passed to them for searching or is something else like an ID number passed? I am just curious in case something else is passed to RPC's site search engine for the actual search, I was wondering if the dialog box that lists the current firmware version number should include this ID. If it's the same as what appears next to the drive letter, it doesn't matter, for obvious reasons. Because if they are the same, since the box appears low enough that the Destination is still visible, then the actual ID string that is sent to the site is what is on the screen all the time. Thanks!

    LG Firmwares?

Okay, the drive in question has an ID returned by ImgBurn, i.e. sent to rpc1.org, of DVDRW4224INQ-D ,so, it's the first one in my list, the 4x drive. Firmware A110 is the last one IOMega has on its site. RPC1 does not have a listing for this drive, but, has a very similar drive string, with A110 as their latest firmware, here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1670 as the Iomega DVDRW4224 - LG GMA-4040B OEM drive Searching for 4040, I found a 4040B of a similar string here http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1628 LG/HLDS GSA-4040B aka the LG HL-DT-ST GSA-4040B (GMA/GWA/GRA/GCA-4040B) CHRIST, why can't these fuckers (Not a strike at RPC, etc. I mean the drive manufacturers.) just make things CONSISTENT?! A304 is the latest listed one there. So, does that help anyone identify if there's a RipLock disabled firmware available for this drive, or if the drive is already RipLock disabled? Actually, IS there a way to poll a drive to see if RipLock is enabled or disabled? I can check myself, then. I am only interested in read speeds, as I will not be using this drive for writing, except for DVD-RAM
  18. Well, in America, for all our foreign friends, the penis is illegal. Shaking it is illegal because it is illegal to possess it.
  19. No. Unlike where you live, that kind of thing is illegal in public here.

    French Daleks?

It's an interesting comment on the desensitization of violence on the news towards kids, I suppose. "Oh, look, Daddy! He got hit with a jet of water! But, it barely inconvenienced him. Why aren't they using bullets, Dad?" "Because the French are cowards, son."

    French Daleks?

That's it! The shot I saw that made me think this is exactly like the above, except the water cannon on the left, as you look at it, was not firing. Also kind of reminds me of the War Machines from the Doctor Who serial called The War Machines.
  22. I have shaken hands with Village People! You are but lowly scum in my presence. BEGONE!
  23. Shows what you know! One of the things the news stories don't mention when they say "Cop of the Village People arrested" is that Victor Willis was the original cop. Raymond Simpson took over after Willis was booted from the band for being a doped up ass. Despite the original motorcycle biker dying of cancer and the original cowboy retiring, there has never been a vacant spot in the group. Unless you count the "original" Village People. Originally, there was no band. Just a group of singers who were hired to record the songs. Then, demand began for live performances, a real band was formed for that. A few of the original performers from the studio, such as the Indian, were hired for the touring group, but most of the parts were filled by auditions. In fact, if you ever get to see the cover for the first Village People album, or their first performance on American Bandstand, you'll notice some different faces that never showed up again.

    LG Firmwares?

Got a question about firmwares for two LG drives. However, they're rebadged and I'm not entirely sure about their ID's, etc. So, I've lumped both into this one generalized question. What I was wondering about was firmwares with RipLock removed for either of these two drives, which I'll do my best to describe. These drives are two LG rebaded by IOMega. The first one: IOMega Super DVD Writer 4x (Dual format drive with DVD-RAM) Internal IDE Model # : 10M-4212A (apparently aka DVDRW4224, aka 4224) Drive ID : DVDRW4224INQ-D (apparently aka DVDRW4224, aka 4224) The second: IOMega Super DVD Writer 8x USB (Dual format drive with DVD-RAM) Model # : GSA-4081B Drive ID : DVDRW4224E2Q Basically, I want to get the maximum read rates possible, thus, turn off RipLock, if enabled, for these drives. See the more detailed information further down for listed maximum read rates. Any information anyone can provide, thanks! Text from my notes, with more details. Can be skipped by most people 1.)
