The program is unable to get any sort of decent transfer rate from your hard drive... and it's so bad that it can't even sustain an 8x burn.

 

Is the hard drive (C:\) being used by other programs whilst you're burning? If so, shut them down.

 

Now that I think about it, Avg was running a virus scan. That would use the C:\ drive.

Thanks for you reply. I'm not sure if the (C:\) is being used while burning but I did have plenty of windows open. Should I leave the computer idle while I write? Is that the cause of the problem?

 

It did says the operation was successful. Do you think those copies are ok?

Thanks. So I'm guessing if I can't finalize it maybe it is the disk not the DVD recorder?

 

The next 2 shows I recored was only 90 minutes and I had no problems at all.

Yes you need to bin that disc, it's unreadable - at least in your burner.

 

How do I change the speed to 8x?

 

In the drop down box that says 'Write Speed' to the left of it.

 

It's down the bottom right of the main window normally.

 

If you're in Build mode you'll need to switch to the 'Device' tab on the right first.

Right click on the drives description in ImgBurn and select check for firmware update then update it to 1.09 if it finds it. Also try burning your disc again at 8x instead of MAX. Then try some better disc's like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

 

 

Make sure no disc is in tray and tray closed when doing firmware update and do not stop it until it says successful etc.

Firmware updated to 1.09.

 

I suppose I need to start over and throw the disk that I was writing to away?

Just got my new DVD-RW drive and the first couple tries went ok, but had a problem with this one. It was able to verify 67% complete before the problems started. What went wrong?

Hi,

 

I had my My Toshiba DVD player/burner for 6 months now and have no problems up until this week.

 

I regularly DVR items on my DISH receiver and then play them while burning them onto a DVD-R using my Toshiba DVD Burner. The last 2 times I've done this I have gotten an error telling me I cannot record to this disk at around the 1:50 minute mark. I usually get 2 hours to 2 hours and 10 minutes on a blank DVD-R. I know it could be the blank Sony DVD-Rs I am using, but could it be a problem with my Toshiba unit? The program did burn the 1:50 minutes but was just a few minutes short of complete.

 

Any thoughts?

it says "If you created the image with ImgBurn, you should be looking for a *.CUE / *.MDS file initially. If you can't locate one of those with the name you're expecting, go for whatever is left! (probably a *.ISO file) "

 

THe first time I used the program I read the disk which only created an ISO file. I did not see a *.CUE file or an *.MDS file. All there was to write from was an ISO file which was 4,080,000 KBs. It worked ok, but I was curious if there is any difference in quality if I write from the ISO file.

No idea where you live but they are not that expensive. Avoid re badged ones. Pick one that can burn +/- RW + DL (double layer) media.

 

Thanks. I may have to go online as someone locally quoted $50-$60. That seems high to me. Can anyone recommend a particular drive? Or perhaps an online review of DVD burning drives? Should I go internal or external?

What type of drive would I need and approximately how much do they run? Anything thing particular I'd need to know when shopping for a drive?

I believe I copied my DVD correctly as I have a file on my hard drive called DVD video recording that is 4,000,000 KB. However, when I followed the directions to write and inserted a blank DVD-R into my disk drive it spins and spins and I get a message at the bottom that says device not ready (unable to recover TOC). My son has been able to burn CDs with the drive but I have a feeling my disk drive can't write DVDs. is that correct?
