  1. Those EMTEC DVD-RW are horrible. Try Verbatim or if you want something not so expensive: Philips or Memorex.
  2. Hi I just burned my first BD and I have some questions: Is it ok to put additional files in the root dir of a BDMV disc? Namely a txt/nfo file? Or will that break compatibility with standalones and/or the PS3? Secondly I was shocked how long all the formatting and zeroing took (3h) before i could actually burn... Are all these certified formatting and zeroing really needed? Is there any guide here in the forum that explains all the BDRE formatting options? Is BDRE Fastwrite unsafe, or why is it disabled by default? EDIT:Found the answers in the settings guide, had overlooked them first. I have been in the "burning business" since i bought a Yammy CDR-100 for the price of a small car, but today i felt like a n00b again Thanks
  3. AFAIK the HL-DT-ST GSA-T*** drives are OEM drives for Laptops that don't support booktyping. I have a GSA-T30L and it doesn't support it either and I tried everything. Those drives have other oddities, like no support for lower than MAX read speeds. It seems that HP (, Dell and other Laptop brands) wanted a drive that supports only the stuff that the software that ships with those Laptops (power2go) supports, to reduce support calls. When I asked them for a firmware upgrade because most modern 16x media are only burned at 2.4x, I was asked if i was actually burning with that crappy power2go coz otherwise there would be no support, and of course there is no newer firmware....
  4. Current Memorex 8x DVD+R DL are also Ritek (RITEK-S04-66)......
  5. I have the same drive and it has the same things checked, so i assume its all fine DVD+RW DL don't exist (yet) afaik. And DVD-RW DL are supposed to exist but i have never seen one in a store (yet). VERY few burners support either of those. @cockaleekieman Did your BE06LU10 come with YE05 firmware, or did you update it?
  6. I only did a few tests since i don't really use the affected burner any more, but it seems it is fixed in 2.4.4.0. Did you find the problem or was there again nothing changed, which would make this even more weird. BTW, the BE06LU10 was not affected.
  7. This sometimes happens with my GSA T30L too. It seems to be a Vista related (Never happened to me in XP or Win7) firmware glitch. Try rebooting the PC with a complete power off/on cycle. This always fixes it for me. If that doesn't help, you might really need a new drive.
  8. From my experience this error is triggered when some app tries to access a*.vob or another encrypted file on a DVD before the DVD was authenticated by a DVD Player. Windoze then completely locks the drive and throws out that error. When I last encountered it, it was caused by some Vista Sidebar gadget. Normally this error should only pop up on a Windows Version where US Export Restrictions apply. On those you can only encrypt 4096 files per drive. If exceeded, this error pops up.
  9. I had the same problem with a Verbatim spindle. I emailed their local support and they asked me to send in the remaining discs. Few days later I got a new spindle with working discs, some merchandise presents and a letter that acknowledged a production error. Really nice support, at least here in Germany. Due to their extremely high price lately (over 50% more than what I buy, memorex) I don't buy them any more though. So far I have been very pleased with the Memorex 16x (Disc ID: CMC MAG-M01-00) especially on my new BE06LU10.
  10. Here is the F8 i/O debug log. EDIT: File attached for download, (scroll down). I 12:10:34 ImgBurn Version 2.4.3.0 started!I 12:10:34 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition (6.0, Build 6001 : Service Pack 1) I 12:10:34 Total Physical Memory: 3.110.932 KB - Available: 1.262.376 KB I 12:10:34 Initialising SPTI... I 12:10:34 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 12:10:34 Found 2 DVD-ROMs and 1 DVD 3x.log
  11. I found one last disc in my Desktop PC's burner, luckily even the same brand. It is burning now at 3x... will post F8 Log when done.
  12. Don't let this hold up the new Version. I can perfectly work around the problem by creating a profile for the discs i use with 8x speed fixed.
  13. Sorry been busy burning all weekend, totally out of discs
  14. I'll do that as soon as I get new SL discs. Prolly Tue or Wed. Oh, and happy Birthday!
