  1. Good stuff. I was also thinking of the need for something like this.
  2. OK, I'll check the actual time taken for an 8x and 12x burn with Nero and compare the result with a burn at 8x and 12x in IB.

  4. Re. losing the buffer, I don't understand why the problem doesn't occur with Nero.
  5. Thanks for taking the time to look at this issue. I would rather use SPTI if possible as you've mentioned this interface is used most of the time during testing.
  6. Finally found it.... It's the "Moonlight Sonata" by Beethoven.
  7. I was a bit sceptical after a few reviews said Joaquin Phoenix was just a junkie playing a junkie, but I have to say this is one of the best movies I've ever seen! (for both ladies and gentlemen). Well worth a couple of hours of "wasted" time.
  8. To9 add to what Kev's suggested, pressing F8 will enable debug mode which will add some extra technical info to the log.
  9. Which version ? BTW, your avatar has grown on me. I now have it animated again and it reminds me a bit of myself when I meet some nice lady on the common during the middle of the night...... only there's too many clothes going on in your AV.
  10. There is if you're a busy person with very important things to do...... and then there's me, so I'll guess I'll just install it and see what happens!
  11. She starts "playing" this music piece at approx 16 minutes 40 seconds into the episode.
  12. During the Lessons episode of Star Trek TNG season 6, Picard falls in love with Nella Darin. About half-way through she takes him to a Jeffries tube which is the most acoustically perfect place on the ship, and after unrolling her portable piano she begins to play a famous classical piano piece of music to demonstrate the acoustical properties. What is this music ?
  13. Any chance of an option/new format specifier then ? It's just that the ISO date format is much more useful for analysis purposes IMO.
  14. To aid in sorting graph data files (I store them all in a single folder), it would be preferable to use the ISO date format of YYYY-MM-DD instead of the current DD-MM-YYYY. With the current format it is not possible to sort the resultant graph files into ascending/descending order.
  15. I'll give the other interfaces a go along with trying a couple of other things and post back here. BTW, if I install CloneDVD and then uninstall it, will I still be left with the Elby interface or do I have to keep CloneDVD on the machine ?
  16. Any other ideas on trying to track down the cause of this problem ?
  17. Could the interface possibly be the problem then ? I have been using SPTI, but Nero uses something else (its own interface ?). Other than that I'm not sure what else is different between IB and Nero. Something is definitely affecting performance with IB when moving data from the Buffer to the Device Buffer.
  18. Would it be possible to have a test build with a small delay after clicking the OK button after a successful burn to see if that helps ?
  19. A bit more info.... I was wrong when I said it only occurs if the IB window doesn't have the focus - It also occurs when the IB window does have the focus, although it's no where near as bad. I checked the Graphs in DVDInfoPro and found that... With 32K length, it cannot get above 8x, and evetually drops the speed down to 4x. With 64K (I presume - ie. Auto), it gets to 12x but struggles a bit I'm guessing that a Transfer Length higher than 64KB would help improve the situation on my system. Below are the graphs (32K first, 64K second):
  20. I would be happy to try out various transfer lengths although would need a new build which allows various lengths to be specified (eg. 4KB, 8KB, 16KB, 32KB, 64KB, 128KB, 256KB, 512KB, 1024KB, 2048KB)
  21. Changing I/O Transfer Length to Manual and setting to 32KB did not help.
  22. It's just happened again and when I use Find Handle or DLL with the search term "cdrom", I get 2 results: ImgBurn.exe 3656 Handle \Device\CdRom3 ImgBurn.exe 3656 Handle \Device\CdRom3 Is this normal after the burn and verify has completed ?
  23. The next time it happens I will check with Process Explorer to see if anything is awry.
  24. Because I never had any such problems with IB 1.3, could it be possible that the volume is not always being unlocked (for whatever reason) by IB after the burn completes in Build mode ?
  25. I reported this problem before but never really got to the bottom of it. During the second half of a 12x burn the Device buffer often empties when the IB window does not have the focus. When the IB window does have focus, the Device buffer stays pretty constant at near full. I don't get any such problems with Nero so am thinking it might be related to I/O Transfer Length since the hard drive seems to be more active when burning with IB as opposed to Nero, and have a few questions so I can perform some additional tests: 1) When set to Automatic, what length does IB use (64KB ?) ? 2) Does anyone know what length Nero uses (or how I can find out) ? 3) I know you changed it to 256KB before in a previous build, but that caused problems with the windows caching mechanism. Were/Are there any such problems when set to 128KB ?
