Laptop is made by Asus, there are no firmware updates... I found one (Left side), but it doesn't work, tried "ASUS Live Update", it says that 'There is no need to update the environment'

How can I update? I downloaded update program from LG, but it can't find any hardware.. Is this drive even LG? :?

I have tried to make backup of one of my games... It failed because disc drive didn't support BitSetting, so I would like to buy new drive (External).. Maybe anyone could tell if this drive will work? http://www.google.com/products/catalog?oe=...um=4#ps-sellers or you could make a recommendation? And please, something cheap..
