pioneer dvr 107d firmware 1.10 I tried updating the firmware but i keep getting a message that says available target is not found

yeah my computer is outdated and has some virus that wont let me upgrade to service pack 2 or 3. I put a single layer in and it read that. I'm thinking most likely its not reading the dual layer discs

Alright. I have read the topic about buying the verbatim dual d discs. but my screen says incompatible medium installed. Does that mean i need a different kind of dvd burner?
