I have always just used internet explorer, and its not slow on my machines, i have never had a security issue with it on any of my computers, and you can set it to install all activex components if thats what you want, (though this is to prevent you from installing dodgy activex objects, so this is a good thing that it is asking you.) I know a lot of people dislike it, though a lot of people dislike it ony because someone else does. Each to their own

I was under the impression that firefox browser was more secure than ie. I was listening to something my mate was on about tonight on phone, whereby he was telling me that from the very start firefox is in no way more secure than ie, due to some exploit that has still not been fixed. I have always seen whilst browsing diff forums, that everyone raves on about how secure firefox is in comparison to ie. So im off to read about firefox again to see what these exploits are, i did run firefox for a short while, but i can remeber reading something similar to what my mate was on about , about the security holes in it and stopped using it thereafter, especially as firefox users always seem to be rubbing ie users noses in it, about swiss cheese. you could try this. start menu /run type in gpedit.msc (this is only for xp pro) then click on administrative templates, you will then see system/network/printers/windows components (at the right hand pane) then double click on system, look down list for turnoff autoplay. If it says enabled or not configured , then change it to disabled and apply. If it says disabled then enable it and apply it, then change it back to disabled and reboot. If you still have issues, i would changed the IDE cable you have the 110 on and make sure to replace it with an 80 wire one(put the pioneer on as a master on secondary ide channel, also check the 4 pin power connector's pins in side the plastic, if the circles appear spread, then get a very small headed screwdriver and push the circles together a little, or use small long nose pliers to do it. Failing that you may need to reinstall your operating system, to make sure its not the operating system screwed up.

Those discs, or rather media code are fine on my burners, but you should stay away from the outer edge of the discs your using, your iso needs to be a little smaller, if this is movie then get shrink and alter its default for image size and drop it down to 4300. if you still get same error, then , see if there is a new firmware for your drive, or put it as master on 80 wire cable, or replace 80 wire cabel with new one, scan your hard drives for errors, and change media to one of the 2 the other guys recommended you use, I have a pioneer 109 and 16x bulpaq TTH02 and have had no problems burning the same amount of data as you but then i am lucky like that and i check every single blank for outer edge quality before i choose to try and put an image on disc that will be getting very very close to the outside edge.

I got to keep my feet chained together with the 1 computer that is fooking me off, its jinxed for sure, and i got do something with it today again, keeps giving errors that would seem to be mem rlated, psu related, sick of changing psu, and i know there is nothing wrong with the memory, as i have tested it loads and it always passes, one thing i might do is take out the radeon 9800 pro and stick the geforce 3 back in, as had ntohing but hasssle since i installed the ATI, especially as the ATI requires and sucks the juice out psu.

you got spybot in, if so use the teatimer mode, wherby it will ask you to authorise any registry change, you may be able to track down what is causing, or possibly changing the registry on the fly etc. if that is whats happening
