  1. okee dokee ok - i've discussed it with the rest of my gang weve made the decision to revert to xp as we are all sick of vista and all its inherant problems and the fact that half of our favourite programmes, as well as any new ones we try ,just wont run at least not without three weeks of patches and tweaking - and then only if your lucky im onsidering a dual boot up with p and vista 64 for when i need superfast speed i dont know if this will help with my imgburn problem but im hoping so along with lots of other problems. this is gonna take a few days though - i will report back as soon as it is done. if you can bare with me i would really appreciate it

  4. thats wots so weird i can see it in explorer just fine it can also read discs just fine i can install or play dvds its just when it comes to burning i get trouble wots a 'filter' driver? sorry i dont understand which driver or where to get it pardon my stupedynessnis do you think it could be a faulty sata connection on the motherboard? or possibly a bad cable?
  5. The nvidia driver is buggy, so try the Windows default driver or an older version of the nforce drivers. Thanks alot mate! This was the solution to my problem! At first I didn't really understand what LUK said, but I went into the "Device manager" and "Restored previous drivers" on "NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller" so it took Windows standard drivers, this fixed the problem and I will hopefully continue to burn with 100% successrate again. ImgBurn: Operation Successfully Completed! unfortunately i already tried these things to no avail i havent got failed burns anymore i cant get that far including different drivers
  6. Have you installed the latest drivers for your chipset/storage controllers? yeah - everything possible thing on this pc is as up to date as is humanly possible. do you think it might help to uninstall and reinstall the drive and the ide drivers? maybe uninstall it from the registry too? somebody? anybody?

  8. i can see it in explorer but imgburn no longer sees any drive at all - for some reason and nor does samsung odd live firmware update ( which does cover my model) nor does wininquiry or any other samsung software i have downloaded i cant find bin flashing software - Tsdnwin.exe - anywhere on the samsung websites to download i can only find the tutorial page you gave me the link to while i think of it - thanks for your help on this - your patience with my stupidynessnis is greatly appreciated
  9. i have tried upgrading the firmware with the odd live update and manually in both cases it says this firmware is incompatible with your device which is patently untrue i have now installed vista service pack one and now i cant even start a burn imgburn reports device not ready (the request could not be performed because of an I/O error) what i'm s'posed to do now i really don't know
  10. You are couple versions behind with your firmware...it needs updating. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtop...dditional+sense im trying to update the firmware but it comes as a bin file but as this means burning it cd its a bit problematical as the drive isnt working
  11. the ontrollors are completyely up to date
  12. every time i try to burn anything i get the same message almost instantly no additional sense information i have read that it could be the nvidia driver but i have tried rolling it back and it doesnt help - all the workarounds i can find are for xp and im running vista premium the drive is a TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S203B when i open imgburn or decrypter first it takes ages searching for it then it takes an eternity for any software to open the device. i dont know if this is pertinant but i would think so. i dont think its the media i have tried at least four different types in there now heres the log I 06:12:10 ImgBurn Version 2.4.2.0 started! I 06:12:10 Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition (6.0, Build 6000) I 06:12:10 Total Physical Memory: 2,095,808 KB - Available: 1,212,952 KB I 06:12:10 Initialising SPTI... I 06:12:10 Searching for SCSI / ATAPI devices... I 06:12:29 Found 1 DVD
  13. I don't believe you're going to piss anyone off...it is what it is. And right now you have the best burning program on the planet. i couldnt agree more its quite superb - i was just worried about coming to close to mentioning mmmm you know the thing that cant be mentioned mmmm (dvdd) ssshhhh
  14. at last a peice of burning software that can verify discs as a seperate function not just after the burn this has been a source of frustration to me for ages and i read that imgburn actually compares properly with the origonal image and doesnt just check the disc for faults CoOoOoOoOl at the risk of pissing people off - its a damn shame i cant rip with it
