hey thanks a million!!!i got it and doin a re-install of xp b4 i load it..yes i watch everything that goes on the other comp.and yes i know its got 256 ram and thats low but it been so good running i hesitate to screw with it (if it works dont f--- with it)but i may need to think about that.yeah spyware sucks i do have spy bot on this one but not that one.only thing on other one in question is dvd decryptor, shrink and imgburn.which i hope none is spyware infiltrated!!!actually seems like when i got the sony burner i did go to nero to get some kind of a file for usage.cant remember.

yes!!!finally somebody else with the same prob!!!thats the i/o error im getting as below...and as far as drivers..thats almost like finding virgins.im still looking for them for the chipset and bus controller.thinking of just buy a new comp with dual processors and all the upgrades.i know its not imgburn since i uninstalled it and loaded version 1.2.0.0 and it gave me the same error.

excuse me ....but who said they did?i said mine would reboot after imgburn went to busy mode and sat like that for say 5 minutes.also i am surfing for firmware for my drive at sony but it keeps sending me to nero and they dont have any kind of tool or firmware for my burner???

haha i take it you dont like maxells?actually tried lots of others but never had any probs with maxell.i have a 600 dollar player/recorder in the house that wont read anything but tdk. or burn imation..and wont read the imation.. its in the closet...go figure

yeah,but this computer in question is never been hooked to internet.its for burning and ripping only.plus it gets scanned once a day with avast.plus its hooked to a filtered air conditioner vent that stays around 65 degrees.if the cpu was faulty or the memory i would think it would have effect on other programs that run on the comp wouldnt it?"thats the first thing i thought of was corrupt files but they been checked.there is only iso files on the hard drive and win xp system.i hate to do a clean install since ill have to move every thing in storage so it dont delete.but ill do it

thanks for the info,but what all of a sudden started this?i was getting i/o errors so i read the forum and seen where you said to enable debug mode so i tried that and when it loaded it went to "busy" and stayed that way till the comp suddenly rebooted itself.freaked me out....also when i restart the computer it seems to load ok then goes into the crazy stuff.should i just get another drive?would that solve whats happened?cause this is unexpected after its ran so great these few years.hypothetically nothing has changed in the computer or its programming.theorectically only upgrades of programs.here is the last log when i ran the debug. i recently upgraded to the newest version yesterday.since that time i have been getting weird log messages everytime i try to burn something and then it shuts down in the middle of burn.--anybody have any ideas?is it my drives or imgburn?they read perfectly just dont burn.this is last log from this morning. yes its home movies of my kids on a dvd but i did make iso files but now i got 25 in a folder hahahaha.i thought when shrink did it it would be one file.....but,alas its a scoop full

oops not decrypter but dvd ripper.my bad.....

ok i got decrypter and ripped some dvds to hard drive...then i took shrink and re did them to another file.but when i try to burn and i pull down the browse to find files the folder opens up but the iso and bla bla files in it dont show up cause not supported?how can ya add 23 files to a burner program when it only wants 1?what am i doin wrong.i just want to burn 3 dvds...isnt there an easier way to rip from the dvd straight into a folder and then turn right around re burn it to a blank dvd?im really losing patience haha and just gonna buy a home dvd burner.didnt know it was so much changing and encoding envolved.i even tried my roxio dvd and power dvd programs .nothing will accept the files in the folder...do u use only one file?i got maybe 15-25 files in each folder..please help me!!!!
