  1. The truth is out there© or the happy end. As I mentioned before I was pretty confident in both Imageburn program and Pioneer hardware. My media came from the same source in Japan and all disks except for TDK BD-RE were repacked (were not in the original jewel cases or sealed box). As soon as I got the sealed box of jeweled cases of the same exact Verbatim BR-R DL media from another source all my problems were history! BTW the disks look, feel and display the same exact info. The only difference is that the good disks for some reason take about 1:20 to burn 43 Gb image, while the bad ones claim only 1:10. Bottom line: Imagburn is the best CD-DVD-BD burning program in the world so far, Pioneer BDR-205 is a fine piece of hardware as well :-)
  2. Well, as you said before, not too many people in the world burn the BD-R DL media yet. I never burned any of BD disks faster than 2x speed. I did not set it I guess the program defaults to it. Yes it's a totally different drive - date of manufacture and s/n. At this point I can be looking at anything from using different enclosure/drive to using a different computer. But it's totally outside the "support" it's rather finding another solution to the problem. Bottom line is that unfortunately you have no more suggestions for me at this point and getting help from Pioneer is similar to beating on the dead horse :-)
  3. Yes I admit: I have nothing better to do than making all this up, buying Pioneer BDR-205 drive and enclosure, 10 Verbatim BD-R disks, 10 TDK BD-R disks, 5 TDK BD-RE disks. Putting it all together, spending time burning (1 hour+ for each disk), killing 8 BD-R disks, getting a replacement BDR-205, spending hours on hold with Pionner "tech support", saving and posting here all screenshots and logs... All I needed here was some help and I was trying to provide as much info as I could, not simply saying: "it does not burn - help" :-( You say Imageburn must burn them - fine, Pioneer say BDR-205 must burn them - fine. The results are somewhat different.
  4. Well, it's quite limited supply of different brands of BD DL media here in the States (I'm sure that in UK one can just go to the store and buy any brand he'd like). Now it's proven for two major brands. I beleive that 7 Verbatim and 1 TDK coasters are a rock solid proof of that. This time 60% failure.
  5. Ok, my last attempt with a different media: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unique Disc Identifier : [bD-R-DL:TDKBLD-RFB-000] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Disc Type : [bD-R DL : Class 0 - Version 1] Manufacturer Name : [TDK Corp.] Manufacturer ID : [TDKBLD] Media Type ID : [RFB] Product Revision : [000] Stamper Date : [Not Present On Disc] Layer Info : [2 Layers (L0-L1) : 25.03 GB (23.31 GiB) Per Layer] Blank Disc Capacity : [24,438,784 Sectors = 50.05 GB (46.61 GiB)] Recording Speeds : [1x , 2x , 4x]
  6. Do you beleive in magic? I now certainly do! According to Pioneer the BDR-205 v1.04 supports those Verbatim disks, according to you the program works :-) The BDR-205 drive FW 1.04 does support the media you listed "VERBATIMb" although it will only burn at 2X. I'm not sure why it is not working for you. FYI, if you use Panasonic DL 4x media "MEI__T02" you can burn up to 10x. And if you use Panasonic DL 6x media (most likely you will need to buy online), it will burn up to 12x. Just letting you know in case speed is a factor for you. All other DL media will burn 8x (best case). Best Regards, Blu-ray Disc Support Desk Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. www.pioneerelectronics.com

  8. Ok the replacement new Pioneer drive is in - with the same exact firmware. To play it safe I burned TDK BD-RE DL 50GB. Aside from "zeroing sectors" for almost two hours(!) it burned fine. I can't afford the 6th(!) Mitsubishi/Verbatim BD-R DL 50 GB coaster, do we have a test mode to try it without ruining the disk? Disc ID: VERBAT-IMb-00 Pioneer tech support is useless suggesting to update to the latest firmware :-)
  9. Changing of the flow attributes work but it's not a conversion :-)
  10. I also had major issues with BDR-205, still not resolved. http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=14110&st=0#entry114678
  11. I'm sorry but I don't know how the drive and program work. All I used was the common sense which told me that it gets stock shortly after burnung 25 GB (not before 25 GB, not after 30 or 35)! Pioneer suggested to send it in for repairs! Will get a replacent drive - I doubt it'd solve it.
  12. Well, I did it again: tried to burn another one using USB instead of eSATA. Same crap - failed at 61%. So 5 BD DL-R disks are in the garbage! At this point it's safe to say that the Pioneer BDR-205 is not capable of burning the BR DL-R 50Gb using the ImageBurn or vice versa. I had never any problems with ImageBurn in the past plus Pioneer has been making one of the best burners and Verbatim disks by Mitsubishi are the best. Pioneer has been contacted. So obviously the problem is going over 25 Gb - as I mentioned before BR SL-R 25 GB burn no problem whatsoever. Let's face it: both 61% and 63% of total 41 Gb are right pass the 25 Gb landmark! In first case it's 63% of 40,496 = 25,599 Gb (reported by IB) In second case it's 61% of 41,214 = 25,264 Gb (reported by IB) So either the drive or the program don't know that they need to switch layers (drive and ImageBurn need to do some handshaking?) The first layer (25 Gb) is used up, but it keeps writing onto it, runs out of physical space on the disk and gets the error! The error says: Invalid Address for write - sure, no more addresses left on the first layer :-( I think it's obvious or am I the only one who noted this? I 19:12:11 ImgBurn Version 2.5.1.0 started!
