  1. lve found that some ppl are getting rings burned into their disks under certain settings.. one or two ppl suggest allot of changes in settings for example turning off "burn proof" others suggest turning off the OPC checks as well as a host of other settings, which is why l thought the suggestion was somewhat interesting.
  2. @Corsten its true, the IHas series can burn till the end of a disk but you have to use modified firmware which can be obtained from the same ppl who make the LT+ firmware.
  3. just thought l would add this suggestion. basically having burning profiles.. for example l make allot of setting changes to burn my Xbox XDG3 backups however l revert the settings after a burn, having the ability to create burning "profiles" would be useful if it could allow changing of specific settings between what l would normally use for normal disks (DVDs) and what l would use for burning backups from my own games, in essence allowing us to save a profile of all our settings and being able to change quickly between a bunch of preset settings made by the user if they burn other disks under different settings if that makes sense.
  4. God l need more sleep the damn options were staring me in the face, appreciate the info.. many thanks.
  5. Hi Im trying to remember the location of a specific setting, basically in the burning dialogue there is a tick box already ticked aka "Verify" ideally l wish it to be unchecked, tho useful l burn allot of CDrs and well lm not bothered if they end up as coasters because l tend to use them once anyways, so in essence l want to know where the option is to have that unticked by default, though l would like to know if there was an option to automatically eject the compilation after burning instead of me having to manually tick it each time a burn a disk. I did have things set like this before l reinstalled my OS, but for the life of me l cannot remember how or where l set the settings because its been a year since lve had to even touch the settings relating to my question. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
  6. strange.. the only thing is l didnt reboot, tho l did chuck in a CDR l had burned before trying the DVDs again after reading this post. tho l didnt test the ones l originally wanted to access mainly because l put the case away again and it was an agro to get it back out.. tho the disk l tried was one l burned recently that l popped in and it seemed to have the same issue.
  7. ok its weird, lve just tried again and its working now, however l had this issue once before and assumed it was just making coasters.. originally it stated was stating the file system was CDFS but now its stating UDF which is what l assumed it would be under as the files are large. but things are showing up like they are supposed to be, which brings me to the question why would it not read earlier but a few hours later work fine. next time it happens l will take screen caps, however the disks l tried earlier are working now, altho l managed to get the data off on my laptop but lm still confused as to why things were being weird.
  8. just an update, it seems my main PC cannot read any of the disks lve burned since installing ImgBurn yet all verified correctly. all have CDFS file system but lve just managed to get to my laptop which seems to be able to read them. the only difference between my laptop and PC is that my PC is using Windows7 Pro (was XP originally 6 months back) and my Laptop runs Windows7 Home Premium, so lm extremely confused as to why when l chuck a verified disk into my PC l see folders but the names are somewhat different for example: say a folder called "example" was burned onto disk, when reading under my PC it seems to come out with something random like this "Example_" or to a similar effect tho all folders will show as empty, but l noticed that when l put the disks in my laptop they seem to work as intended.. which brings me to the question... Why cant the computer that burned them read them? could it be down to region settings? because thats the only significant difference between my laptop and PC.
  9. Pretty much as topic states. over the past 6 months lve been burning and verifying disks perfectly however for some unknown reason l cannot copy the data off all folders show as empty yet data does seem to be on the disk. the only settings lve changed are the ones pertaining to speed of each burn. the format of the disks states CDFS... which lm sure is the reason why l cant read them and am somewhat upset at the fact that the disks dont seem to be readable even though they verified properly. what can l do to read the data? its extremely important l access it.
  10. well l guess l cant complain really since l didnt drop any disks, lve got few as it is lol, at least until l get paid XD
  11. will update later in the middle of uploading some website stuff atm Edit: finally using SB03 firmware, thanks finally got to test the burner, attached is the log.. one thing lm a little concerned (for lack of a better word) about is altho l have limited it to a speed of 12x for dvd writing l now cannot obtain anywhere near that speed, in fact while burning l hardly ever went over 8x and spent a couple of dvds burning at 5x, l guess the consolation is that l never dropped my usual one or two dvds that usually failed recently however it just concerned me that l couldnt obtain a higher speed since the firmware upgrade (as thats the only thing thats changed that could possibly affect burning. 13. Burning at MAX speed isn't always the best idea either. 8x, 12x or 16x would probably give you better and more reliable burns rather than 'MAX' - which is effectively 18x with your drive/firmware/media combo. l updated, my drive firmware, however it doesnt seem to flash higher than SB02 (tried twice, but the tool l downloaded just flashed it with SB02) lve also turned the speed down to 12x, however lve yet to download a full DVDs worth of stuff to burn so l maybe back with the results..
  14. The basic jist of my problem is that for every burning session l am likely to at least one failed disk or more. My writer is a Samsung TSSTcorp SH-S223C (purchased within the last 4 months as my last burner died, it served me well it was a model or two down from the above) When writing and there are no problems it seems to run perfectly, and l burn at speeds of around 14x and 16x, however when problems occur l generally notice that the sound from my drive changes from the usual hissing of the burn process to a much quieter sound, sometimes when it does this it will keep burning but the speed will slow down drastically but on occasions it will just throw out a failed disk (tho it does ask me if l wish to finalise it before it spits it out at me) at these points it does seem that the device buffer fluctuates a reasonable bit but it does seem to recover quickly if the burn continues.. this problem happened in XP Pro, l assumed it was possibly OS issues as my install was playing up, but l reinstalled a day or two back with Win7 Pro and the same issue is occurring while burning on random disks.. (basically as previously stated, burn starts ok then part way at a random point drive pitch changes, burn speed goes down if it continues or just fails). As for the DVD media l use, l dont tend to buy anything other than DataWrite Titanium disks.. so that shouldnt be an issue, l was wondering if it could be related to the speed its burning at and if there was a way to limit it to a lower speed (l havent found the option, as lve only been using this program recently instead of Nero as its more lightweight so lm still getting used to things) Finally heres the logfile below (l removed the non needed parts of burns which completed fine and left in information l thought might be useful) any information that might help to fix my issue would be extremely helpful as too many disks are failing, and l burn allot.
