  1. I knew I must have been missing it. Thanks a bunch mmalves.
  2. Hi LUK, The change log for 2.5.3.0 says... Added: Option to tell the program to include a header (program version + date) at the top of log files when saving them. I've looked all over for an 'Add Header' or similar setting in version 2.5.4.0 but I can't find it. I know I must be looking over it. Can you point me to where in the settings this option can be found?
  3. Did he say what the issue was? I've never had any problem with my CanoScan 4200. I've had it for 6 years and have used it regularly during that time without incident. It wasn't a high end unit (I think it was around $80) so it obviously wasn't meant for critical pro work. But for basic home use it is more than adequate.
  4. If you are going to buy a scanner any way, Canon scanners come with software that will do what you want. You can either use their CanoScan ToolBox software, or use the Twain acquire feature of your program of choice to access the Canon scanner driver. You can specify, among other things, the area of the item to be scanned.
  5. I did a cursory scan of the forum and don't think that anyone has requested this before. When ImgBurn is set to Append current session log data to an existing log file, it very nicely prints some header info that includes the date before it writes the detailed status messages. And obviously this has to be done or the appended log file would very quickly become confusing as to what happened when. But when ImgBurn is set up to save logs to separate files, the nice header with the date is not written. It also isn't written when one manually saves from within the log window. While it is certainly not as big a deal to have the date when saving a single session's info to a log file, I think it would be helpful. If adding the header would be too big a deal coding-wise, perhaps the existing [HH:MM:SS] time display on each detail record could be changed to [MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM:SS] (or DD/MM for you folks on the other side of the pond). I recognize that this is not a critical matter. And I suppose that the user can get the date from the log file creation date. So LUK if you don't feel like being bothered with this, I understand completely. But if it isn't a lot of trouble and you decide to do it, it would be great.
  6. My own back up method is to use a batch file that zips up desired files and folders by calling GnuWIN/Info-Zip Zip. I then burn said zip files to disc with ImgBurn. I could probably add the burning part to the batch file too but haven't gotten around to that yet. This obviously isn't an automated solution as one might get with a full-fledged back up program. But it works for me. I have not personally used these (pay) programs, but a few to check out that claim the ability to back up to optical media include the following: NovaBACKUP Genie Backup Manager Backup4all NTI Backup Now Paragon Backup & Recovery SyncBackPro I think most of them have trial versions.
  7. Very interesting. Thanks for the follow-up LUK

  9. I'm not sure if this is a bug or a file system limitation. I used the layout editor to add a bunch of folders to burn to DVD. The folders contain some files that have future dates. 01/01/2036, 12/31/2036 etc. When I looked at the burned disc in Explorer, the files show up without a date: Files on hard drive: Files on burned disc: When I use the dir command to list the files, they show up with a weird 1780 date: Files on hard drive: C:\UTILS>dir Backup.* Volume in drive C has no label. Volume Serial Number is 548F-AC20 Directory of C:\UTILS 01/01/2036 12:00 AM 1,787 Backup.bat 08/11/2010 08:43 PM 1,899 Backup.lst Files on burned disc: E:\UTILS>dir Backup.* Volume in drive E is Key Stuff 081910 Volume Serial Number is B287-32CE Directory of E:\UTILS 01/01/1780 12:00 AM 1,787 Backup.bat 08/11/2010 08:43 PM 1,899 Backup.lst Is this a bug in ImgBurn, or a limitation of the ISO9660 & Joliet file systems, which is what I set as the file systems when I burn data DVDs.
  10. See here and here for how to fairly easily send a list of files/folders to ImgBurn from TC.
  11. Isn't this a little like saying... I've been using a butter knife for a while. It has been fantastic as a tool to spread butter. But when I use it to drive screws it has not really worked and I have to resort to using a screw driver.
  12. What you want to do is easy with PgcEdit. Open the program. Select File|New DVD. Tell it what type of video (NTSC/PAL) and where you want the files to go. Then File|Import VTST Titles. Browse to where your .IFO file is. Tweak navigation or commands if desired. Save your work. If you need help with PgcEdit, go to the doom9 forums. The author is a regular over there.
  13. You can open an iso directly in VLC media player
  14. I did give IsoBuster a try. I let it run all night long and it only got thru 12%. Not worth the hassle. I'll just ask my brother-in-law to burn another disc. Thanks for the tips.
  15. I think I did Close Disc earlier. Unfortunately I can't remember. I just now tried Close Track and got a pop-up error message that said I/O Error! Not sure why I didn't get that pop-up message earlier. All of that was on my Pio DVR-115D burner. On a whim I tried the same on my Optiarc AD-7190 (which I think is really a Litey). No error messages this time. And, after doing Close track, then Session, and then Disc, followed by a Refresh on the drive now shows the disc as Complete: Optiarc DVD RW AD-7190A 1.05 (ATA) Current Profile: DVD-R Disc Information: Status: Complete Erasable: No Sessions: 1 Sectors: 2,297,888 Size: 4,706,074,624 bytes Time: 510:40:38 (MM:SS:FF) Supported Write Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x, 12x, 16x TOC Information: Session 1... -> Track 01 (Mode 1, LBA: 0 - 2297887) -> LeadOut (LBA: 2297888) Pre-recorded Information: Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG. 17. I hope that he never does. One of the things I love about ImgBurn is the clean interface and the absence of all of that cartoonish nonsense far too prevalent in software these days.
  18. LUK, since you didn't finish that sentence with "yet," let me ask a quick question. Have you given up on adding this function to the program? I had thought that based upon a reply from you in THIS thread, that you were going to do this at some point. I'm hoping that you just haven't gotten to it yet, and not that you decided not to do it after all. p.s. thanks for the tip on the batch file to do roughly the equivalent
  19. Would it be possible to make it an option in the next version of ImgBurn?
  20. ugh... that was pretty bad
  21. That's great; thanks LUK!
