  1. I agree that Opera has bugs - all software does. But at least contacting the developers is fairly easy with Opera. Try doing that with IE's developers! That testcase is interesting, though - only a tiny area of the link is clickable. But on tv.com I can't find anything clickable on those links. I know I've been a bit quiet, lfc, but it's not because of Torchwood. Apart from the first episode, I haven't been impressed. But the next episode features a cyberwoman, which looks good. Maybe db would be interested in it - you don't often see a cyberbeing that actually looks female...
  2. Same here, db. Doesn't work for me. Don't know why, though.
  3. According to one reviewer, "Torchwood wears its 'grown up' heart on its sleeve, with a piss, a bugger, a fuck and a bollocks all in the first 10 minutes, while the second episode features a sexually voracious alien parasite." And nearly all the reviews I've seen are really positive
  4. Yes. It said at the end of the trailer! 22 October... 2006
  5. Seems to be a lot of buzz around over the start of this series - from both UK and US people. The BBC have made some good trailers, as well as some creepy "viral marketing" clips. Official Trailer 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3b_3Np9EO0 Official Trailer 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzwnDRluE-A Official Trailer 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnOR56lTtaU Leaked, BBC Worldwide promo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaU5vwpAYtU Quite looking forward to this!
  6. No, they didn't, and yes, he did. And, BTW, db, don't go posting any BSG spoilers. Especially the one about Starbuck being a cylon. Oops...
  7. I agree with you lfc. I know db has already seen episodes 2 and 3 - quite how he managed it I don't know - but there are some great episodes coming up. Talking of the (US) sci-fi channel, I notice that season 3 of Battlestar Galactica starts on Friday. Having seen season 1 on Sky Three, and season 2 on DVD, I'm totally hooked. I have to see season 3, but I don't know how I could possibly get to see it...
  8. What did you think of New Earth, db? A bit light and fluffy, I know, but at least it had zombies...
  9. Oh come on! You started shouting in your first post, with an arrogant attitude: LIGHTNING (along with other software authors) put lots of helpful, informative messages into software. And the user (you, along with plenty of other people) just goes ahead and ignores them!!! The smartasses, as you call them, are very helpful guys. They've just had enough of people who blunder in thinking that this FREE software somehow owes them something, when they can't even be bothered reading the useful feedback that the software is giving them!
  10. I know the question was about Firefox, but with the latest version of Opera you can turn off javascript on a site-by-site basis (although not at individual page level I don't think). Or you can turn it off with the Quick Preferences menu (F12), or I guess you could assign a mouse gesture to the turning off and turning on of javascript.
  11. Also confirmed by the BBC site: US screenings confirmed for September The SCI FI Channel and BBC Worldwide Americas have confirmed that Doctor Who will return to SCI FI in September 2006. The run will kick off with a two-hour premiere package that will include David Tennant's debut, The Christmas Invasion. Chris Regina, Vice President of Programming, SCI FI Channel, said "Our audience has clearly embraced 'Doctor Who' and it has delivered a significant increase in viewers in the time period. We are looking forward to keeping the momentum going with David Tennant as the new Doctor." Executive Producer and Lead Writer Russell T Davies says, "We were delighted by the first season's success in the US, and can promise new thrills, new laughs, new heartbreak, and some terrifying new aliens in Season Two." The first season of the new Doctor Who proved a huge success for the SCI FI Channel. Of the episodes that you haven't seen, there's a great two-parter - The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit - which is excellent. Another one, set in the 50s, The Idiot's Lantern, is also great
  12. I really don't think he's interested in your IP address...
  13. Looks like the US scifi channel is showing season 2, starting on 29th September: From http://nbccableinfo.com/insidenbccable/pdf...september06.pdf DOCTOR WHO (S2) PREMIERE @ 9PM DOCTOR WHO / 10PM NEW
  14. I'd like to add my thanks too. Being a member of the beta team I know how much work LIGHTNING put into this release - the addition of the Build mode was a big change!
  15. Just been watching some filming for the christmas special. We were about three feet away from David Tennant & Catherine Tate. Ms Tate (as the bride) was sooooooo loud hailing a taxi during a take. We were also near a fake Dr Who ATM as it was spitting out fake notes. My workmate got two of them as a souvenir. We also went in the pub where David Tennent and Catherine Tate were resting between takes. But we missed them by about 30 seconds. But am I bovverred...!?!?
  16. If it is, let's hope it's encrypted with something that'll never, ever be cracked in the history of the world. Ever! BTW, a DLT tape couldn't be CSS-encrypted. That's DVD-only.
  17. One of the things about services is that they start before you log on to windoze, so you wouldn't be able to start them from the Startup folder. As for changing the startup type from the command line, you might find something useful here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;251192
  18. Just trying it now using Opera 9 and it seems to work fine. Maybe it's time you upgraded from Netscape 0.2... BTW, you are highlighting the text again when applying the second attribute?
  19. The current beta has an option for IFO/BUP 32K padding.
  20. It's not really cruel - db doesn't usually wait long to see the episodes he wants to see...
  21. And don't forget the Daleks' Genesis Ark, which may or may not contain Davros!
  22. Shamus, as you're a bit cookiephobic as I recall, I take it you've seen the new "site preferences" dialog in Opera 9, whereby you can easily restrict cookies on a site-by-site basis, and even throw away cookies for that particular site on exit. You can also customise loads of other settings for a particular site too. Oh, and the ad-blocker is really good and easy to use
  23. I think there's an invasion coming this Saturday too...
  24. Just thought I'd let you all know that the new companion has been officially announced. Bye bye Rose http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressrele.../agyeman2.shtml
  25. You could also use a lossless avi codec to encode it, like the free Huffyuv codec. http://neuron2.net/www.math.berkeley.edu/benrg/huffyuv.html
